Phone cutting off internet

Having just had a whinge on someones thread I decided it might be worth seeing if anyone on here might have a clue what is going on.
I have been paying for some time for halo which I have steadily upgraded.  I have had the problem for quite some time & no-one seems to be able to fix it.  So far 3 different engineers have been able to fix it.  One interesting thing is that each time one tries it improves (not fixed) for a while until it happens virtually everytime I hang up the phone.  The openreach one even moved where the phone came into the house & more new hubs than most people have in a lifetime.
It is quite simple really - usually when I hang up the phone the internet cuts out.  If anyone has a clue please let me know, because frankly I am fed up with paying for something they are not providing.

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but it's not something you've yet mentioned.
Have you tried replacing the phone with a different one?

Then it has to be an issue of your own making (by accident or otherwise) if you've changed everything but the phone itself and problem continues.

Beg, borrow or obtain a wired phone.  Plug it in.  Discard existing phone for a while.
If situation solves itself your old unit is causing the issue.

I wonder why none of the engineers ever mentioned the actual phone as a problem.  It does work fine when I use it as an intercom & the openreach one did move the location of the base phone.  If you both seriously think this could work I would replace it with 5 new phones.  That leaves me with the current problem that the master phone is now in the box room.  I do have a wired phone for when the power goes off but that won't be much use for much longer as we are going digital which is great when you have next to no mobile signal.  Oh the joys.  Thanks very much both.

So, you have a 'wired phone' - why not just try it briefly to see if that makes the issue different?

I will be trying it.  Unfortunately it needs to be upstairs & I am currently on crutches (temp only) so will need DS to help.  Nothing is ever straight forward!

As above, go back to basics and try a basic wired.  What happens after the internet has dropped, does it re-establish on its own and how quickly?

Yes it does re-establish itself within about 10 minutes.

It's the little gizmo that plugs into your master socket and splits the signal into "phone" and "dsl".
If you have a master socket with separate phone and dsl sockets, you don''t need a microfilter.
