Well done on the £15 win, the Lil win and the family furniture keepsake. Sounds lovely.

Hope you had a nice time, and haven't had to remortgage after getting a half at Parcel Yard 😁4

Ha, I'd shock you with my spends at Lil and A1di. I only got there once every month or two so stick up, especially on dog food so rarely spend less than £100 - more if it's Greek week in Ls as I love their vine leaves and stock up on olive oil 😁4
-
The beer price was fine - I was slightly shocked at £3.55 for a half pint of orange juice and lemonade though - thank goodness I didn't opt for a pint!PennysIntoPounds said:Hope you had a nice time, and haven't had to remortgage after getting a half at Parcel Yard 😁
CCW - I got the impression that level of spend was a fairly regular thing for the two in front of me, although there clearly were some Christmas bits in there too. Anyway, it did me a favour so no complaints!
SA, Beanie, SH, morning! Hope you are all good and enjoying some sunshine this morning!
Catch up last night was lovely - ended up meeting up with a second pal too - who also knows the first, and we suddenly realised in the middle of yesterday that she was also down in London yesterday by complete coincidence. I managed to sneak away from work half an hour early too and we had a nice natter - fab to see them both!
Scared myself when I looked at the banks this morning as I've completely forgotten it was the middle of the month - so the FD reg saver payment has gone out, the council tax and the broadband DD, thus neatly halving what was in the account in comparison to yesterday. The excellent news is that we are still ahead of the game on the same point last month though - although still with plenty of month to come of course. We will definitely need another tank of fuel in MrEH's car, mine may well escape that although not if I head up to Lincolnshire next Friday as I am currently considering. MrEH may need to feed his oyster once more as well - it will be a bit touch and go on that.
My spends last night were all personal spends and was just two drinks anyway, and the travel came off an existing balance on my Oyster as planned.
I checked the weather first thing as the sunshine that we started out with is indeed forecast to stay around all day, so MrEH popped the washing out on the line before we left home this morning, and his first job this evening will be to go and grab it back in again. We're fully expecting it to still be a bit damp - or more likely to have got a bit damp again as it will be out after it gets dark of course, but it should still be further ahead than it would have been had it just gone straight to the airer, fingers crossed, and of course that is a little less moisture in the house, too. It must be said that currently we are finding that having the airer in front of the radiator in the spare room is working really well for drying stuff, although of course that is with the benefit of being able to get at least some outside drying time in, and that probably won't continue for all that much longer.
I'm debating making this week's Friday heating experiment just turning up the thermostat by a degree first thing, so see how that works in terms of maintaining a warmer temperature through the day. I may well light the fire in the late afternoon again anyway, in which case I will also be ensuring that the heating doesn't trigger later in the day as well, but it will perhaps be interesting to see how much difference that extra degree in heating makes in terms of gas use.
Discussion had about the farmers market this morning on the way in to London - and we've agreed that actually, we don't think we do need to go this month, so the food account will feel the benefit of skipping that. I will probably get out one pack of mince from the freezer for a batch cook on Friday - that should provide 3 double portions of ragu. This evening will be sausage, butternut squash & mushroom pasta - the sauce being made from half a tub of soft cheese - and I think I have a jar of pesto in the fridge some of which which will go in there as well. That uses up the two spare sausages from Monday evening, and it will still feel hearty enough for a wintery evening thanks to the squash. I've also already got out the remaining venison stew for tomorrow evening - I may yet push the boat out and do that with dumplings which will delight MrEH who will of course make his usual joke!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

All sounds like it’s going well in EH landI am quite often in Coals Drop it’s lovely especially in the summer watching the films on the canal and of course the Waitr bar!My mum has a tall cabinet which was made by my great uncle - it’s gorgeous and so detailed and lovely to have as a keepsake.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Oh L you HAVE to have a go at making butter then - how fantastic! Time to keep your eyes peeled for YS'd cream, surely!
LaPlan, I think the last time I was around Coals Drop Yard was when they did Lumiere London and we had a good wander round that area. I was reminded anew last night how wonderful what they have done with Kings Cross station is though! SUCH an improvement on the hideous old box that used to be on the front!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I had a man try to hire me as a prostitute when I was a teenager outside the old Kings Cross station, for once I am definitely in favour of an area being gentrified!5
