What a scary time, @EH. I do hope that Mr EH is continuing restful recovery & am glad that you were on hand to help with getting him swiftly assessed. My Dad used to say, "These things are sent to try us", & they really do at the time. It can take a little while to recover one's equilibrium, can't it?

Thanks all - your lovely comments are much appreciated. Yes, Foxgloves is bang on about the equilibrium, too. "Getting there" I think - but will take a while yet - on both our accounts I think!
So - where have we been at as far as MSE Stuff is concerned?
- Awaiting the money back from the accommodation for the festival - if it's not arrived by the end of tomorrow I'll probably suggest MrEH sends a "nudge" email to manage expectations, at least.
- in the interim money has been transferred from one of the savings pots to cover the shortfall in the joint account, with a note made of how much and where from.
- Our Washer-Dryer finally made the sort of noises that suggested that the end was nigh while doing one of the loads of clothes that were worn during the festival - fair play, beer festival washing is grim prospect! Anyway, I revisited the comparisons we did previously, spotted that the LG machine we'd earmarked as being the best bet for us was on offer, and promptly placed the order for delivery last Friday. Joining the "membership" scheme for the supplier proved to be a money saver as got us extra off the price which cancelled out the fee, and added free delivery and removal of the old machine.
- The new WM was paid from the joint account because cashback - and money also temporarily transferred from elsewhere to cover that. Once the expenses are back, I'll get things sorted out and balanced up
- The garden continues to help with feeding us - more beans than we can shake a stick at, courgettes now arriving regularly, and a cucumber every few days which is plenty of cucumbers by anyone's standards!
- I'm dealing with beans every few days by prepping, blanching very lightly and loose-freezing, and a lot of also being eaten at the very lightly blanched stage too.
- Pesto stocks in the freezer are building thanks to the successive sowings of basil.
- a well timed Lil's visit last Friday gained us a really excellent green box - always a win, and more so as it included some delicous flat peaches, and a very-nearly ripe mango that got scoffed over the weekend
- A job my Mum needed doing prompted us to purchase a replacement for our old knackered jigsaw - and we were able to use a £6 off voucher which meant the spare blades we purchased for it cost us practically nothing, so that was a win.
The weekend is likely to be mostly home/garden related I think - at the least we want to finish the prepping of the shed/office walls ready to begin work on the new log store. Now we have the jigsaw I may also set up the workbench to do some chopping down of bits of pallet ready to turn into kindling ahead of the winter. MrEH will no doubt crack on with making paper bricks, too. Hopefully there will be a barbeque at some point as it looks like the first of our sweetcorn might be ready for harvesting - and there is literally no better way of eating them than picked and thrown straight onto the BBQ! We have fuel, some tasty lamb burgers (farmers market last weekend) and some Y/S'd burger buns already in, so that might be a low-cost option, too!
