Hey! Thanks all! Re the nose-art on the Lancaster, there may be something about the story of it on the BBMF's own web pages within the RAF site - it relates back to an aircraft/pilot from WW2 as you might expect, but I can't recall the detail!
Anyway - apologies for the long absence, but it has ALL been happening here. Beer festival for my birthday was lovely - and just what was needed right before we were getting into the final prep for the big beer festival in Birmingham at the start of this month, however, prior to that, life threw one of those curve-balls that you simply don't see coming.
On the wednesday morning, the day before we were planning to travel to Brum, MrEH woke up in the early hours pretty unwell, between 4.30am and 7am that escalated pretty rapidly finally leading to an emergency ambulance call at just after 8am, and a hospital admission at around 9am. (Yes - the speed of that last bit tells you a lot). Initially they had no solid idea what was going on - but there were two possibilities being looked at both of which would have been potentially life-changing, eventually they settled (thank goodness) on something less concerning, which had just played out in a rather unexpected way, with symptoms giving the appearance of something far worse. By mid afternoon on the wednesday he was in receipt of some heavy duty painkillers, had been given a chunky dose of steroids, and was being given antibiotics in the sort of quantities one usually associated with cattle or horses... By the following morning he was far better, although still definitely not right - but better enough that we could at least talk about what we were doing about Birmingham - and he made clear that regardless of him being in hospital and likely to be there for several more days, he still wanted me to travel up as planned - I can't say i was wildly happy about this, but it was quite apparent that he was going to stress far less if I did, so we settled on the compromise of me cancelling that first night's accommodation and travelling on the Friday instead. they finally came to the conclusion of what they decided the issue was on that Friday (He eventually got admitted to a ward in the early hours that day, too) and he finally got released from hospital - with more chunky doses of antibiotics) on the Monday following. Meanwhile I was in Brum trying to essentially "be two people" which was entertaining (and stressful!) - I took over the running of the bar, which went fairly well thanks to the incredible team I have behind me, I never for a moment doubted that they would have my back! On the Monday evening I drove home, spent the night there with MrEH, then the following day we both headed back up and he spent the rest of the week on "light duties" - but it was by far the best solution as there is a full-scale medical team on hand at the event, so we had the reassurance of knowing that there were people on hand should anything unexpected occur - a far better solution than him being at home on his own!
He's now well and truly on the mend - his final day of antibiotics is today, and he's now getting to grips with the fact that yes, you do lose fitness pretty fast around something like that, and getting tired far faster than he is used to is not easy to deal with! I've just about got over the scare too I think - although I'm not absolutely sure you ever quite "get over" that level of fright, do you! It's certainly not been the few weeks we were expecting, although we're both just glad to have a good outcome.
In MSE terms, there has also been plenty going on, the N/W1de switch bonus was received and has headed to the mortgage, both lots of car insurance have been renewed, and breakdown cover too - and we managed to get decent deals on all of them. Home insurance is next, and the renewal price for that is sufficiently keen that I am happy to let that roll over, so nothing to worry about there. Some money juggling was needed for the car stuff especially as MrEH's car also had to have a service, and thanks to the work that was done on his a few months ago the account was a little "thinner" than ideal - it all worked out, though!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

That sounds like a real rollercoaster and intense with it!
And, no, you never do quite get over that level of fright and fear when your OH is that ill (I still remember Mr KK's ruptured disc and his howling at Twixtmas with a sinking feeling ...)
Best wishes to Mr EH and I hope life becomes a bit more 'boring' and predictable again for you ...
