Thank you
that makes sense5 -
Hope MrEH continues to keep getting better.
good work on the 🐙 hour. We did a bit on Sunday but weren't home today.5 -
Poo - lost a post due to straight stupidity, nobody to blame but myself!
MrEH is definitely well on the mend now - thanks for all the good wishes for him! He has headed off to the office today armed with throat sweets to hopefully suppress the cough a bit on the tube!
MSE Stuff:
- banks checked and all good
- more CC shuffling done, and I should be able to get things zeroed off properly once those have cleared through, which will hopefully be tomorrow.
- Should be in a position to get the mortgage OP done as hoped at the end of the month, so that will leave us with £105,400 as our official end of year 1 figure. Not too shabby! (Impatient me would have LOVED to have made it to a straight £10k cleared off though!)
- More garden pickings last night - tomatoes and more beans, oh and MrEH picked a cucumber as well.
- portioned out the blackberry and apple and having decided to leave out one tub for the weekend managed to get the rest into the freezer - it was a tight squeeze though - we WILL be eating from there for the next little while as I desperately need to create space!
- Tonight's tea is stir fry with prawns and (probably) noodles - which will make inroads into the veg in the fridge. Lamb curry for tomorrow I think - although that will make an additional portion to go to the freezer, it will get one lot of diced lamb plus a tub of dhal out of there, so a net gain...
- plan for grocery shopping this week is to make sure that all our protein components come from the freezer plus the remaining eggs - that should keep the costs down and help with freezer space.
- £50 credit heading my way in due course on the Octopods account thanks to a pal using my referral link - it all helps!
This evening will see our usual Thursday night pub trip - which I am looking forward to, and funded by personal spends of course!
Almost no plans for the weekend although MrEH was talking about wanting to get out for a trip somewhere, and we also want to get some more foraging done - there is an apple tree across the other side of town I want to check out, he wants more blackberries for jamming, and rosehips for syrup, and there might also be a final few plums...

Rose hip syrup - now that takes me back to my mum giving me that as a child. Along with a spoonful of cod liver oil and malt. No idea what benefits they had but (touch wood) I’m rarely unwell so maybe there’s something in it.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Yes I too remember rose hip syrup and malt extract…..I also remember raspberry vinegar ( or was it oil.) and I’m not sure why I was given that one. I think maybe after a bad case of whooping cough. It was great fun shaking the bottle and watching it separate.
I'm glad you’re enjoying the garden. It’s the worse year we’ve had for tomatoes this year but we did use home grown potatoes when the gks were here.January spends - £587.585
