Hi everyone. We've just published an article on this topic: Standard first-class stamp prices to rise by 14% from 2 October – here's how to beat the hike.

    Thanks :)
I have just been buying first class stamps. It is interesting that is no sign of King Charles on any stamps yet. Even though his First Day Cover came out before Easter

I managed to get every single Large letter label printed yesterday before the price rises- except for one that eventually paid at around 11.20pm after I had logged out for the night. That one was of course the only auction I had had a bid on before I remembered to change my postage over to the new rates, cest La Vie.

Bought 225 x 2nd class large letter stamps last week saving £90.

Also bought 27 x 6 (162) 1st class Justice league self adhesive stamps (without barcode) saving £24.30.

Still have over 500  2nd class stamps which I managed to get for 36p each in 2011.

Will be using the large letter stamps for sending parcels.

Large letter second class less than 100g has gone up from £1.15 to £1.55. That's extortionate.
    Indeed it is!

For any Large letters over 250g you might as well send Tracked as they will be £2.60 2nd Class or £2.70 Tracked 48.

They are clearly pushing Tracked and there isn't really anything wrong with that, if 1st and 2nd disappeared for parcels I doubt it would make much difference really, it would be a smallish price increase for a better service but as above they are hammering Large Letters due to the lack of competition.
Yeah, I send a lot of my camera filters that are under 150g 2nd class (cost me only a few £s incase of DNR) so that is a big increase.

We all know what RM are upto with pricing strategy and general strategy but a shame they've basically given up on just sending a basic letter/large letter. Packages here we come......for instance, had my amazon S&S delivery today with the poor postie bringing in 4 big boxes that must have nearly filler his small van and was well above 20kg in total, hut as he says, amazon have given RM a contract in addition to DPD and their own delivery company.

If you've had over 500 sitting around for 12 years are you ever really going to cash in on your savings? :)

Probably a better result than a savings account I guess.

But if they're not special stamps, none'll be valid for postage.

Possibly waiting for the new King Charles bar codes ones to be released before swapping them for valid ones?

I have a small business and everything is posted 2nd Class large letter. This increase (the second 35% increase on large letters in 2 years!) is going to cripple many small businesses. It is either going to mean a price increase on orders, which will probably result in a loss of custom or a loss on each order which most small businesses, including mine can't afford to do. Does anyone know how a complaint can be made regarding these extortionate increases other than complaining to Royal Mail which will have zero effect?
