They've got the fuel surcharge and are introducing a green surcharge and a peak surcharge.
That said I don't think any of those apply to BPL and £1.20 for a 100g LL with BPL isn't that bad.
For those using CRL or other such services Royal Mail are doing their best to keep headline prices low and then tap here and there for more money.
Small/medium eBay sellers are not going to be happy with it but bigger businesses are likely to simply to pay whatever, the only question is whether they get to a point where Royal Mail is too expensive but Royal Mail is still better than Yodel and Evri which has to be a consideration for these businesses in terms of time and cost dealing with unhappy customers because they used a lesser quality delivery service.
Prices on eBay will rise to match the new costs and everyone will be on the same tier of the playing field they was before, the main consideration is how the increases affect volume, whether you sell 1000s of things or 2 things a month, higher prices is likely to cut the number of sales.
Selling something like a CD for a fiver isn't really worth it now with £1.85 2nd Class + packing and eBay fees, throw on another 75p (plus FVF fees) in postage and the bit left in your pocket is even smaller to point the time doesn't justify the reward for passing along your unwanted stuff below a certain value.
With some things it's a catch 22, you could send a CD in a plastic mailer to get it under 100g but if you are only selling your unwanted stuff and get 2 sales a month and sods law both those complain the case is damaged because it wasn't packaged properly it's going to cost you more dealing with the problems....In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Just bumping to remind people to check their postage before the rises. Basically anything paid for after Sunday will attract the new prices , so make sure you print as many labels as you can before RM go offline at some point on Sunday .I’ve just done a bulk edit on my LLs ready for when I turn my holiday settings off later this week. I did forget to do my auctions and unfortunately have a bid on something so will have to charge the old rate, which will mean sending at a postage loss.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. 100 LL stamps are £115 now.. Monday they will be £155. Not hard to understand.
Delivery confirmation is one big con. I've sold thousands of items online, they do not track and RM do not give compensation if the item goes missing.
All stamps are barcoded now anyway.0 -

I send quite a lot of parcels. I am fortunate to have a post office within walking/cycling distance, and there is a seldom a queue.0
