Well done Fishcake ! More power to your elbow. I know that many people these days complain about not being able to afford their first house because of the difficult property market, but not all of them are prepared to make the really tough financial sacrifices that you are making to get there. So keep it up and if you have those odd "fed up" days, just keep reminding yourself that every little sacrifice will be worth it on the day you eventually move into your own home. The things you value most are usually the things you have had to fight hardest for.0

Thank you everyone for all the support. I wouldn`t know where to start explaining how I did things last year, if you posted some specific questions i`ll try and answer them as best I can.

Good luck to you - I don't know if I'd have the will power to go as far as you but I'm hoping to be debt free over the next couple of years in order to also save the deposit for a house. :beer:Aiming to be Debt free by October 20130

Another 'Good Luck' from me too Fishcake. :santa2:
I'll be reading this thread with great interest as I'm going to have to do something very similar. I'll be spending more over the year but thats from a budget for the house renovations. It's the everyday living I will have to curtail and monitor as I need to see if I can live withing the income I can generate from my farm.
All the best and Happy Christmas too

I know I can't live for free, but I'm keeping a log of how long I can last into January before I have to spend any money, I've posted details on my blog. I admit I have a full freezer & cupboards, but I've just been told I have 5 of us for Christams lunch instead of just hubby & I, I also have 12 for lunch on 28th.
I have some curtains to alter which I'll do straight after Christmas, I'll use the £10 I get from that to pay the milk bill for the next few weeks.

....and dont forget the O.S. idea of "diluting" the milk. I've swopped from skimmed milk to buying full-fat milk and using it 2 parts milk to 1 part water.
Happy Christmas again Hester.
