Finding a provider that does variable DDs
Comments
-
It was largely introduced and kept in place because many customers did not want bills that varied throughout the course of the year. I pay by variable Direct Debit, it suits me, but I am financially literate and more than capable of managing monthly and seasonal variances in my outgoings (and income). There are some people who do not have the life skills to manage an amount that varies significantly over the course of the year, they would not have the discipline to put the extra money aside in summer to cover the increased winter costs.Qyburn said:Fixed DD suits lazy suppliers who don't want to do a proper bill any more often than they have to.1 -
That could be a useful development for some then, it would be interesting to see if that carries on properly and becomes available to those not on it at the point of transition.fabsaver said:
I've just been migrated onto the BG new system and was expecting to be taken off variable DD (based upon comments on here).MattMattMattUK said:I know for sure that EDF and Octopus do, British Gas do not on their new billing platform and everyone will be on that by the end of the year.
However upon logging in it says the following. I'm hoping it means they are now allowing variable DDs on the new system.PaymentsVariable Direct Debit.
1st / month.
Your Direct Debit varies depending on your current usage and is based on your latest bill.0
