Finding a provider that does variable DDs
Options
Hey there - does anyone know of any comparison site that can be filtered to show suppliers that allow a variable DD?

Can't think of a relevant comparison site (let alone one that's still working) but most suppliers offer MVDD. Octopus certainly do, as does British Gas's old system (although it's been reported that the new system doesn't).Ovo no longer offer it.0

Not sure about comparison sites, but assuming you mean monthly variable DD (pay whole bills at DD rates) there was a list by MSE - although check as seen posts saying B Gas don't now support on new billing platform which all new customers went on to.

I know for sure that EDF and Octopus do, British Gas do not on their new billing platform and everyone will be on that by the end of the year.0

Wonder whether that breaks the DD guarantee?I suppose BG think they're big enough to do as they please, it'll be their way or the highway.0

there is another option known as 'variable' monthly direct debit that is available at British & Scottish Gas, Bulb, E.on, EDF, Octopus Energy, Shell, So Energy and Utility Warehouse.
I've been told by Eon and So Energy that they don't do variables at all. So presumably this needs to be updated.
I'll see what I can find out about the others - assuming they have a decent tariff.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. and fyi - one of the reasons I ask is that I'm coming off a 2 year fix with Eon which has been quite cheap to what I'll need to pay in future. And they so far will only agree a fixed DD on any of their tariffs based on annual use that is 10% above what I used over the last year. When I've asked for a requote based on my actual use they have been waffling about "don't you realise that the unit price is higher hence the higher DD being required."I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Re EOnNext - posts here in the recent past and then this blog post by them in June - suggest they do - or at least did do variable direct debit

Eon Next should do variable DD as they use Kraken which definitely does allow it. I guess they could have made the business decision not to, but it'll lose them some potential customers.
Though this blog post seems to imply they do offer MVDD
