Yes, if it's mandatory then there should be a "Your benefit may be affected if you do not ....." type warning message. The lack of such a message indicates that whatever it is is your choice. You also have to remember that the WCs are hampered by not having much to invite people to anyway so will invite many more than there are places for. I did show an interest in a local scheme back in May and my WC put a referral in, I've heard nothing yet.(It's a 'keep you busy' kind of scheme but I'd get my hands on some woodworking lathes etc. which I could make good use of for myself).0

I havent been given any login details for an online journal so I don't know if it would have that type of warning message showing to be honest. I'm guessing not everyone has access to the online journal, depends on which type of benefit claimed perhaps ?Newcad said:Yes, if it's mandatory then there should be a "Your benefit may be affected if you do not ....." type warning message. The lack of such a message indicates that whatever it is is your choice. You also have to remember that the WCs are hampered by not having much to invite people to anyway so will invite many more than there are places for. I would like to do a useful course to obtain a qualification myself but only if it is useful and not just to do for the sake of it.
At least I'm aware now I'd need to be advised that something is mandatory, appreciate the heads up.

The online account/journal is only in UCFor other benefits if a WC gives you a mandatory activity it should be agreed with the clamant and given in writing too.Note that in both cases though if an activity is put on your 'Work Plan' then it may already be covered by the warning in your Claimant Commitment that you must comply with your Work Plan or face a possible sanction.(Legacy, or 'old style' benefits don't have a claimant commitment, but they may have a Work Plan, so the warning should be given every time a new mandatory activity is given).1
