Job Fair At Job Centre

Re Travel costs, if the Jobs fair is not a replacement for any Job Centre work related appointment that would be due, so is an extra activity you are being asked to take part in which incurs additional cost, then I don't see any reason why not. BUT it would be down to the Job Centre to agree and they would need to complete an application with you.
If they agree to reimburse fuel costs, it is based on round trip miles from your home address and Job Centre. The rate is 25p per mile.
Call 0800 169 0310 and ask for the Job Centre to call you back regarding an FSF application for travel costs. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1 -
You are not likely to be able to claim anything for your driver's time .0

I know at my local job centre they have it once a week and is pretty terrible, as in alot of the times desks will be empty because the business rep haven't turned up.1

That's a shame, that's made up my mind for me anyway. Thanks for letting me know.sheramber said:You are not likely to be able to claim anything for your driver's time .0 -
Have you been "invited" to attend a job fair, or is it just a poster you have seen in the jobcentre, or elsewhere say facebork? If you have been "invited" they should have mentioned travel costsEither way contact your WC and ask.0

I'm asking others for their experience. Unfortunately no one has been able to answer all my queries.Newcad said:Have you been "invited" to attend a job fair, or is it just a poster you have seen in the jobcentre, or elsewhere say facebork? If you have been "invited" they should have mentioned travel costsEither way contact your WC and ask.0 -
I got a similar one yesterday, a note on my UC journal inviting me to a 2 hour session at the jobcentre about New State Pension, and Tax on pensions. (I'm 63 so only a couple of years off, if I make it).I've declined, I already researched that lot, so someone else will probably benefit more.PS. I have a disability bus pass so travel costs are not usually a problem, as long as the bus turns up.1

I don't blame you for not attending if you consider it to be not useful to you.Newcad said:I got a similar one yesterday, a note on my UC journal inviting me to a 2 hour session at the jobcentre about New State Pension, and Tax on pensions. It would be refreshing if these WC's were transparent when discussing all type of events and advised if they were "invitations" or not as opposed to "you're going on this". It's extremely rude.

If it is mandatory then they have to tell you and update commitment/work plan with a wording to confirm it is mandatory.
If they don't say it is mandatory, then a decision maker should not apply a sanction. The comments I post are personal opinion. Okay thanks, I suppose my only concern is, that if I decline this event that the next event may be made mandatory due to earlier declining an event.huckster said:If it is mandatory then they have to tell you and update commitment/work plan with a wording to confirm it is mandatory.
