Well that's taken out the majority of today's technology.

I could never buy a car called "Build Your Dreams".

Plus, I think everyone should think hard before buying Chinese goods.  I've been doing so for the last 4-5 years.  It's hard (so much is manufacturered there) but I personally would never buy a product made in China by a Chinese company.

This is basically what it comes down to. BYD have a lot of experience with EVs and they are very nice cars. So either you are a racist or you aren't. You judge their products on their merits, or you just won't buy it because it's made by a Chinese company.

By the way, a lot of other cars from other manufacturers have Chinese parts in them. Their EV technology is unbeatable - Teslas made in China with Chinese batteries from CATL perform better than the American made ones. It's going to be hard for dedicated racists to buy a vehicle soon, especially if they don't want to compromise.

What are the chances that the vehicles presented to NCAP for testing will not be off the production line?  First batch made from
thicker steel and fully reinforced and after the tests they thin things down a little?

You don't need to be a racist to be uneasy about buying Chinese goods: just appalled by their human rights record.

Zero.  You are talking about creating two different cars.

Not saying it's impossible and hasn't, in some way, been tried.  Let's face it - emissions were fair game at one point.  The usual trick (which NCAP caught on to) was to have all the safety gear as optional extras which is why they only test base models now.

NCAP seemed to have moved towards mitigation these days.
Cars that scored near perfect crash test scores a few years ago get zero marks when retested as they aren't filled with all those safety acronyms like MouldyOldDough kindly listed.

I'm not says they can make cars out of spit and Kleenex these days but some don't really impress in some impact tests yet still score maximum stars because of all this kit.

Most drivers brains aren't always dedicated to these tasks unfortunately.
The likes of BSD and PCW always work, even if drivers are checking their text messages.

Amazingly some people still feel the same way about seatbelts.
I reckon there are more people about that were glad they used them after an accident than those that wished they had!

Zero. Aside from racist nonsense about Chinese companies and people, they would be crazy to do that and risk the repercussions. They don't need to, they have a good product and other Chinese brands like MG have proven to be able to overcome the racism.
