Paypal issue

Hi everyone need a little advice.
A short while ago my paypal account was accidently upgraded to a Premier type (i submitted the wrong button when accepting a payment from an ebayer)
I asked for the account to be downgraded, nothing happened, so i transfered funds to my bank account and then closed the paypal account.
A couple of weeks later, a paypal dispute regarding an item on ebay automatically refunded a buyer and took £41.00 from my non-existant account.
To add insult to injury there was no actual problem, the item was fine, it was at delivery depot waiting for the person to pick it up, but he couldnt be bothered to travel there and after 3 failed delivery attempts the item was still there, he filed for a refund and got it!
So i hear nothing more, the account was closed. Until this morning. I now have a letter demanding the £41.00 back within 7 days usual crap.
Where do i stand? I got emails saying this dispute happened but i couldnt access my account because it wasnt in existance any more!
Really not happy with paypal at all and will never deal with them again.
Help please!

Well... did you get the item back? If so, surely you're not that much out of pocket to refund paypal? My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Paypal is horrendous regarding buyer complaint and refunding.
I sent an item out, all was received, but the buyer made a claim with paypal and they refunded her. Despite me having proof that she had received the item.
^ This has happened to many people I know, and it seems Paypal always see in favour of the buyer. I know someone who had £100 taken out of her paypal account for the same thing.
On to your situation, I would phone paypal and explain the situation. Good luck!0 -
I got the item back, but am obviously £41 out of pocket!
Even more recently someone filed a dispute and had no evidence and took £125 quid back, plus fees!
I've just paid the £41 but have learnt my lesson, not to use paypal for receiving money, only sending it, Paypal always settles in the buyers favour, for example i sent something out the person decided he didnt want it, claiming it was damaged, they refunded it, i got the item back, and guess what, there is nothing wrong with the item!!!
Not going to bother speaking to Paypal on the phone either ive tried that in the past with limited sucess.0 -
Resell the item, and fingers crossed you get your £410

Your not out of pocket are you? you recieved the money, transfered to your bank then closed the paypal account? This means that the £41 you paid back is the money you recieved in the first place.0

I know paypants are a$$ hole$ for doing this to loads of innocent sellers.
Just relist the item, and say you don't take paypal.
You could sign up to Google Checkout and after the auction ends, send them a google invoice?I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -

Not really.
Your buyer didn't get his item (for whatever reason)
He was refunded (and you've now refunded paypal)
You got the item back.
You're back where you were before you started. You don't really have much to complain about... except the £125, but that's a whole other thread :rolleyes:My TV is broken!

What type of account do you suppose to have?
I thought you had to have a premier account to accept payments. Have I been having the wrong type?!?! I only sell things of eBay for Christmas and it usually my old junk (but another man's treasure) that I want rid of.0 -
I wanted advice as to paypal taking money from a closed account.
I gained 41.00 by selling the item, refund issued from a dead a account and had to pay the 41.00 back, so now i am not 41.00 in profit, i *lost* the 41.00 profit, if that makes sense.0
