Thank you all for your feedback on the specs. I am happy with the distance and the reading but I cant seem to get the screen bit right, I think I have to hold my chin a little too high but am going to go into work next week to try them. As I use multiple screens it might be beneficial to keep a pair specific for VDU as otherwise I feel I will be like one of those little nodding dogs people using to have in the back of their cars.
We are heading out about 4pm and the forecast had been dry which would have been great as its an outdoor event, however we have just had a downpour so the ground will be wet so will need something to getting a wet bot while we wait, Am thinking I have an old shower curtain which I use for painting so will take that to put under a blanket. Hoping there is no further rain as I don't really want to get wet on our trek there or back. Need to find the other bits I need and start getting my bag together.
I do feel for poor DH as it is our anniversary today and I'm sure its not how he envisaged spending it.
Mum is no better but no worse so that is a positive thanks x
Will fly tomorrowMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!8 -
Happy anniversary Kaz. Hello all.
We made good progress yesterday, new to us furniture is chosen and will be delivered next week, both sheds sorted and the big one is now my gym. So just the toddlers bedroom to do which will be on Monday.
Today, I have done dailies and been out with friends.Spend less now, work less later.9 -
Just popping in to report a kitchen floor hoover and mop this morning after the gym / before going out shopping. I've got one of those spray mop thingies and added some method non-rinse liquid in rhubarb. Smells lovely and was so nice to come back from shopping and it still smelled lovely. Must do the bathrooms tomorrow and then put the pad in the wash. Going to wipe the worktops down in a minute while everyone is out."Think of many things, do one"

I have done everything on my list, however I swapped deep cleaning the bathroom for deep cleaning the living room🫣🫣🫣
Also has a small nap and got food out for tomorrows Sunday lunch so we are organised for that. Mattress protector has been on a hot wash and is on the line, will leave it there overnight.I’ll pop back in tomorrow. Take care all xx10 -
Just passing with a few random thoughts.
Thanks to all you best wishes for Mr N; he is doing well now although needs to rest a lot. We managed to get to both the ages-ago-booked theatre trips on Weds and today, minimising the walking by using bus instead of underground. Both shows were brilliant and he says worth the tiredness the next day. Our holiday in 10 days time will definitely be in the car not the motorbike. I'm still actively discouraging him from any sort of flying although he helped change bed linen as BIL is staying for a few days from tomorrow (I plan to get him to mow the lawn so Mr N won't be tempted!). He's got the follow-up checkup with the surgeon on Wednesday but hasn't tried driving yet.
So I've been fluttering in between nursing duties, I'm not going to list it all.
Regarding the varifocals discussion, I wear contacts 4/5 days per week and varifocals the rest, I get on with them well although can easily read/potter/do computer work with nothing at all. I did get a cheap (£40 or so) pair of photoreactive varifocals from an online place, so I can use them for running or swimming. I was a bit dubious but they seem to fit and work ok; they aren't the most robust I guess but fine for the price.
I've only really skimmed the thread this last week, for obvious reasons, so hugs/spoons/congrats as required.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Morning all
Slept for ten hours last night and feel like a washed out old rag. My body is definitely fighting something off. Animals have been fed, DW unloaded and meal plan written. Need to nip to work just after lunch, collect DDs friend for a sleepover then back for Sunday lunch. An early night with my book is my plan, we’ll see what happens in reality!
take care all x9 -
Update from me - DS room and my room
hoovered and polished. Waste paper basket sized bin full of rubbish disposed of. Finally re-hung DD’s door, got the new cottage door latch on it and also the hook on DS door. Just need a nice hook for DD’s door now and that’s one job off the list!
lovely to have you back Piggers, I’ve missed you xx10 -
it's ok.. you won't for long.. I am super annoying lol We have booked 3 caravans for next year so DD1 can bring her 5, DS1 can bring his and we can all have a mad week again. The children had the best time with us all there together even though we didn't do half as much as we usually do.washing from holiday all done.I need to pack for the 2 staying at DD1'sI've rdered school trousers for Dot.. I need t put up the triple wardrobe to hang all their school stuff.packing for MILs fiesta started..would you believe they are not having a table with pictures or her ashes in an urn or flowers or anything.. most disappointing.. I am sorting that myself now.. honestly.. I am considering having our own proper memorial here instead! They are vile people I will be delighted to never have to see any of their nasty selfish selves ever again.. I am glad I am not a nice persn if that is what being nice is meant to look like. His dad messaged yesterday saying 'assuming you're coming Tuesday do you want to pop by and pick up your half of the ashes and Squeaks christmas present?' ... Squeak is terrified of dogs and they have a very bouncy young black lab.. so no, no we are not coming.. we are however having dinner at X pub so you can join us.. or not.. we don't care either way.. Please do nt let them come beause honestly I cannot keep my mouth shut.. I am angry before we get there and I only cry when I get angry and I do not want them mistaking anger for sadness.OH is trying to psyche himself up to ringing sil to tell her to stay away from Squeak and to keep her abusive partner away from all of us. I can see me ending up calling the police.. again..
