5 days later, it finally showed up on my account.
It may not cause problems for them, but it causes problems for me, as it's me who has to budget accordingly.
I can't see a transactions tab or pending payments on the web in my account.

You can budget as you know when it's going to go out of your bank. Didn't they send an email a week beforehand giving you warning? They do me.

How does this cause you problems?  The payment leaves your account on the day you ask it to & gets credited to your Octopus account few days later so what budgeting in involved?

Did those 5 days include the weekend?  So actually 3 or 4 working days depending on their definition?

Exactly as they said it would.

Go to the "View my balance history" bit. Pending transactions show up there

    Thanks, I hadn't seen that.
There is actually more to this than i've made clear here, for anonnymity purposes, looking at some of the replies though....really? Lol.

Where does it show as pending?
On the app, under Bills, and then the transactions tab. Anything pending shows there, including manual debit card payments.
At least it does for me.
Select Bill's then transactions switch on calculations you will see your payment and balance.
  • Anyone else notice that their Octopus energy account is slow to update to reflect payments taken?
I had a payment teken 3 or 4 days ago, and it still hasn't changed. The money definately left my account
What happened to the age of the computer? Instantaneous? Carrier pigeon more like!

If you've had quicker account updates from a previous provider I would be interested to hear who they were.
95%(reasonable guesstimate) of posters here rate Octopus billing and service as the absolute best available, including myself.
Octopus have never given me a reason to contact them or complain, and are the only Big 6(7) supplier I can say that about. (Don't get me started on British Gas!!!)

I'm not being sarcastic, I really do like to hear about companies out there who get things right as well those who don't.
  • when i was with SP the account was updated the same day as the payment came out of my bank acc and bill made up the same day, so it was always a up to date balance

i know its an old thread that's been brought back to life but. i must say, the one surprising thing that struck me when first joining OE was how long between DD payment being made to it appearing as cleared credit on your account. no biggie and it's how it is but it was a surprise.
