Ps….am I throwing good money after bad do you think.
Back in my day we called this ‘knobbing up’ if you will pardon the expression.
I wonder if it might be better / more cost effective in the long run to go the whole hog as it were?
Then again, it only has to last me now another 8-10 years,  I would imagine, and having people in to do things may well rob me of some of that time.
    Decisions, decisions.
I always thought at my age hey would be easier!

Changing the doors on the wardrobe fronts, drawer fronts and the cupboards up top will not be as hard as you think. Changing doors is easy, drawer fronts a little more complex. Probably a handyman level job. Or if you wanted a simple solution go to one of those kitchen renovation companies if you have one local and get them to do the supply and fit.

There are plenty of companies that will do custom sized wardrobe doors (and the accompanying cupboard doors and drawer fronts). E.g https://doors2size.co.uk/wardrobe-doors/

It wouldn't cost anywhere near the same amount as getting a whole new wardrobe installed. Remember, the most expensive cost at the moment is labour as tradesmen are in short demand, so fitting an entire new wardrobe will be very expensive. Wood is also expensive, so ripping out and replacing all the internals would be a large cost. Much more costly than getting 4 new cupboard doors and some drawer fronts and having a handyman or local kitchen fitter fit them.

Bold, indeed, but I think it works. Certainly hugely more than it was.

If this is just a little-used spare room, why on earth would you want to spend multiple £100s, even £ks, replacing them!
You've sorted it for now - coordinating the shades has nailed that nicely - so I'd leave it for at least a year, and just keep ideas building up in your mind... Google and Pinterest are great for this.

At some point you could even reverse the scheme, going darker feature colour for the door frames, and lighter for the centre panels - they can just be roller-painted. Then some large stick-on transfers on the panels in monochrome; I dunno, trees, flowers, Celtic designs, geometric, anything you like. That door style is almost begging to 'frame' something :-)

Much nicer.  Only other money I'd spend in there is perhaps for new door/drawer knobs.  Black of course.  But not essential.

    And then close the door.

I didnt know you could rollerpaint doors, probably a bit much for me though as I have arthritis and gripping things hurts after a short time. Am now wondering whether the cushions are a step too far on the bold front.? Do you think i ‘get away’ with the current, rather ‘prisoner cell block H’ headboard?
