I can absolutely help @beanielou, I don't have many skills but real ale drinking is one 😁
What's the context? Getting some in the home for over Christmas? Or a gift or stocking item?
Do you know if he likes all ale types or if there are any he doesn't like?
And what shops are do-able for you?
Aldi has a gorgeous chocolate stout on at the moment which is normal alcohol percentage range and a bargain at £1.99 a bottle.
But he probably wouldn't want to be drinking those all evening as they're quite filling, so some IPAs and Bitters might be good toohttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1

https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/sainsburys-winter-porter-seasonal-edition-taste-the-difference-500ml
For easy drinking over Christmas

Or for a sweeter nightcap (some people think this is sickly sweet, I absolutely love it 😁)
