Just let it go unless it included your photos etc.0

Thank you thank you everyone for your comments. The point was that the tenant was not advised a video would be taken and placed online until goodness knows when. There is nothing in the SAT about videos being taken, only access for viewings - which was provided.Although notice was given to do viewings, these are people who look around for max 10 minutes. A video online allows people to “zoom in” and spend longer checking out your stuff - should they be inclined to do so. There is also a possible security issue, until the tenant moves out.3

I did that a year ago regarding a CCTV issue, and had immediate answers from a human - quite impressed. If you get all the relevant facts ready - an idea of what can be seen in the video; photos, any papers or documents, valuables, even the location of the room in the house, etc. - it should help to highlight the reasons for your concern. Please let us know what you find - it's an interesting situation, and possibly a very useful thread.0

Is there anything specific in this video which causes a problem? e.g. which may constitute personal data.1 -
pennyunwise said:Hi, I am moving out of a rented property and the managing agent has asked if they can do viewings on a certain day to re-let the property - no problem.I have now become aware that they have made a video of the property showing all my possessions without asking my permission. Where do I stand? - I'm not happy about having everything I own shown online.Unlike many of the unsympathetic posters above, I can fully understand why you are unhappy. Presumably the agent has posted the video online for anyone to see. There are security implications to this where tenants may well be in the property for another two months. This is not the same as someone coming to view the property and taking a video to show family members. In your case, the video is made public and can easily be associated with your address.Too many people discuss whether something is against GDPR, whether it's in a contract, etc. As with anything, too much emphasis on rights and legalities and not enough on consideration for others. What happened to common courtesy? If the agent wants to make a video, they should ask you. In any case, this is another instance on rules, laws, contracts, etc. not keeping pace with the real world. Certainly before the pandemic, a video showing a property for sale was rare, let alone a rental. There is also the attitude people have that they can do what they want online and it has no bearing in the real world. The agent wouldn't allow random passers by to come in and nose around the property, so why post a video on a public site?1

Other than just saying to the agent "I don't like it, stop" - which I would hope the OP had already realised was an option - everything else requires discussion of rights and legalities.2 -
The agent has been asked to remove the video and they haven’t!!!!0

And if you've had cross words with them, they might just be doing it to wind you up.
If there's nothing identifying you in the video (which we have to presume is not the case, since you've not responded to the many questions asking whether that is so) then why not just move on? Is there something specifically worrying about the contents of the video?0
