Have you ever considered the actual cost to you of doing it?
There is no cost to me, I agree prices and durations up front. No one has ever run over.Explain how I can access your private data and information when I'm tiling the bathroom please.
You can't access my private data and information on my computer, what a silly thing to say! However, you could go snooping in other rooms, damaging things and hiding that damage or cut corners.
I'm not saying either you or Andy would do that personally but there are people out there who 'pretend' to be tradesmen who happily would do. Usually after I have seen someone do one job for me and they come back I don't need to watch what they do.
Anyway, this is going way off topic now, so I will bow out.0 -

Of course there is a cost to you. How much do you get paid per hour for your work? Every hour you spend breathing down someones neck you lose that amount of money. More to the point you cost HIM money in a fixed price environment because you slow him down and get in the way.......... I agree prices and durations up front. This post is really old, i would be shocked if any chippy can demand 180 pound a day in todays climate, i have mates who are carpenters, plasterers and brick layers, and they are lucky to find a days work.
Infact a lot of my friends have had to look elsewhere for work, im sure the good times will come back for the building trade, but if you need work doing by a tradesman you should get it done at a very competitive price now.
My mate the other day was charging 80 pound a day, 2 years ago he was charging 150 pound a day, if tradesman want the work they will have to lower their prices, otherwise they will just be over looked.I am not a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as not being a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. i dont think they would have much choice today, i dont see there being a problem watching someone do their work, if they have a problem they obviously have something to hide.I am not a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as not being a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. i am a plasterer by trade, never work on daily rate and i think is fair in both sides when agreed on fixed price and writen down ona paper whats mine and whats yours to buy/do.
most of proper tradesmen no mater what trade would stick to fixed trade as they know what they do and make the money from speed of doing it- many times coming cheaper than if you went for daily rate.
you should check for quality though before ou pay0
