NatWest fixed rate cash ISA

Has anyone managed to open one of these ISAs? I am a NatWest customer and I have been trying to open a two year fixed rate cash ISA for a week. I have tried online with 3 different laptops and browsers, with cookies cleared. No, the system is down. I have tried by phone, but the phones are not answered. You can hang on for hours. I have tried on the useless CORA. No luck there. I got through to a human in the “Exceptions Team”, who tried to put me through to a human to process the application. It cut off after half an hour.
Has anyone succeeded? If so, how?
I am tempted to take my banking elsewhere, as I have other bank accounts.

I've spent a week trying to sort this, jumping through the assorted hoops.

Did the ID checks on photo ID and my picture on their link, finally got a customer number and activation code.

Signed in and they've for some reason set me up with a fixed savings bond, not the actual ISA.

Reading further you need to apply for a card reader, and to be honest, I'm tempted to just abort this now.
Might be lesser rates elsewhere, but seems way, way less hassle.

Are you trying to apply while you are logged into your online banking?
The only way I could get it working was when I clicked the apply link from their webpage when not identified. It then asked me to log in and it worked fine.

I applied earlier this week from within the Nat West app and  it only took a few mins before I was given the account details. The iSA was showing in my app from 1st thing the following morning.

Did it give you the option to fund the ISA during the applicatiion?

Yes, it is one of the first questions that it asks you. I chose no, as I am transferring a S&S ISA to it and I printed a transfer form and posted it to them.

Update. The NatWest has set up a cash ISA in my name, but not what I applied for. I applied for the 2-year fixed rate cash ISA, which is still showing as a system error. After they sent me a link, I applied again for the 2-year fixed rate cash ISA, and they have set up an account I did not apply for, being a cash ISA at 1.6%. I believe that this is a serious breach of banking rules?  They refuse to sort this out.
    This is the error message.

I opened mine (I'm a customer already) with no issues. Very quick. Appeared on my app the next day. However, I have had an issue with the ISA transfer. They told me (after a week) that Virgin say the details I gave don't match up. They didn't tell me what details so it is difficult to rectify. I rang the ISA dept but no answer after 4o mins of holding so I gave up a and tried the transfer again. Another 7 day wait to see if it works this time I guess.
  • I have lost the will to live with this application.  I applied on 30/7/23 for a fixed cash ISA 2yr as recommended.  I have completed goodness knows how many forms passwords etc and received an activation code finally this morning 12 days later.  tried Cora and useless.  All I am after is A LINK or HOW to transfer the funds into the approved application? I have googled been into help and Cora as mentioned.  If it's not resolved today I will be closing the account and going elsewhere.   It all seems set up to not actually take up the offer to me?

I've just opened a STB 3yr fix at 5.6% with zero balance as there is a 30 day funding window, giving some leeway to see if the trend is downward. I had attempted the Nat West 2 Year but there was only so much incompetence I could take.
