This thread makes great reading :rotfl:

Im afraid Im a complete scrimper the last few years when it comes to make up, a few (well I think they are tips) I have picked up:
    - vaseline for keeping eyebrows in shape, as well as mixing with eyeshaow for cheap lippy!!
    - clinique superfit foundation, cheap as chips on e-bay!
    - Sally henson airbrush legs/body for foundation type/fake tan (stuff you can actually see so you dont look like a zebra) , £4 in ethel austins if you check every week you will catch it in stock as opposed to the absurd £11 in superdrug etc!! fantastic stuff for covering corned beef legs, marks and scars or just for an easy quick tan :)
    - Again Ethil Austins if there is one near you, make sure you visit it!! My sister dragged me in and I found (sit down) YSL Touche Eclat for £5!! they seem to have factory seconds, all fine and sealed in here for crazy prices!
    - I use Aussie Miracle hair care stuff, mainly colour mate shampoo and skip a step conditioner, lovely smelling stuff that is on offer for BOGOF sometimes or 2 for £6 (Boots), started using it after a bad dying incident which left my hair brittle and weak, the 3 minute reconstruction stuff is fab and can repair most badly damaged hair, its usually included in the the above offers.
    - I got the estee lauder set at xmas for £45 which had over £200 of goodies in it which last me all year!! was buying a present as perfume anyway so got the set discounted in a nice ig case with brushes too, bargain!

What or where is Ethil Austins - what sort of shop is it, is it a chain store?

I missed that at Xmas & I'm still gutted:( :(:(

tips I learnt from my nanna who was a glamorous young lady during the war, bite your lips and pinch your cheeks before going out, and for a healtthy glow lie on your back on your bed with your head hanging off the edge for a minute.

Picking up on tips learned from those who went before us.... my grandmother had the most exquisite skin and honestly looked about 20 years younger than her age. She had never washed her face with anything other than porridge oats all her life!

She had a pot of oats by the basin, she made a stiffish paste with warm water in her hands, rubbed it in and rinsed it off twice a day. I suppose it's the ultimate gentle exfoliator. That and 'Oil of Ulay' - as it was then - were her complete skincare routine. Simple times.

Just thought I'd mention I got an E.L.F bronzer the other day and its fab-very natural looking with no tacky shimmer. I've found E.L.F to be very hit and miss but was really pleased with this, for £1.50 you can't go wrong :-)

Unfortunatley i have become a Virgin Vie at Home Junkie

I have converted from YSL toucheclat to their Out of the Shadows - just as fab results but is £10.00 cheaper

also have been a fan of their skincare - using the vitamin C range - however they have just launched a new range which has all the upto date ingrediants and smell good enough to eat, and they also have a fab offer on at the moment spend £25.00 and choose another product for £1.50 or £2.50 or £5.00 I spent £ 25.50 and got a product worth £22.00 for for £5.00 and update my eyeshadow pallets,

this offer is only available via a consultant so I found my consultant by going to the main virgin vie website and typed in my postcode and that brought up the nearest consulant to me and she offered free delviery , not bad eh!

you gotta give em a go they are top quality products with out the top qulaity price - I will not use anything else

hello ladies, (ok, maybe guys too!)

i am nearing 30 and due to recent hormone problems have just started wearing make up as my previously good skin has turned into that of a teenagers!!

i really need some help in getting a foundation. i have tried 17 minreal foundation which i really like but found it wasnt very long lasting. so i then tried the new loreal true minerals powder/foundation but it feels sticky on!!

does anyone have any suggestions? i like the creme to powder compact style ones & am on abit of a budget?

    ok back to topic best make up;

nail varnish - bourjois 1 second

because the genius brush shape allows me to apply dark colours without getting it all over my fingers, making it look like they are bleeding lol

    h007-

have you tried Clinique? I wore their liquid foundation when my skin was bad but they do compacts to, I find they have good coverage.

I'd also highly recommend using a good concealer to hide imperfections, then a foundation that will just make your skin look good.
I use Rimmels Hide The Blemish-excellent coverage and cheap too. I've been told Erase It by Benefit and Laura Merciers concealer (something about Camoflage, can't remember the name) have good coverage too.

    Foundation i would recommend:
    No.7 mousse foundation
Max Factor Miracle touch especially if you are used to a cream to powder type
L'oreal infallible for fantastic coverage which doesnt look heavy
Maybelline everfresh foundation just because I am currently using that one and it really looks and feels fresh.
if any of these except maybe the max factor (v. small pot) last you less than 6 months you are using too much!
