RIP Mum & Dad - thanks for helping me on my journey to be
Debt and Mortgage free from 20181 -
I have just returned from local hospital after a CT Scan to follow up the surgery in September. Consultant will telephone me in early January.
Hairdressers this afternoon.
Christmas preparations all done, so now just enjoying the build up to Christmas.
Finances in November were ok. I still managed to finish month with planned £1200 in main current account. The reason I have this amount is because my big direct debits come out early in the month.
As explained above I have a transitional budget in operation for December which is going well at the moment.
The new simplified budget comes into operation on January 1st.
Fairly quiet week ahead with bigger gatherings/celebrations set for December 17th and December 23rd. I may do a minor garden tidy and hopefully have the car cleaned or maybe do it myself. The weather has prevented car cleaning for weeks but at least all the rain has kept the bodywork clean !6 -
I decided to replace my potted Christmas tree yesterday as it was not enjoying being indoors. It is now recovering on the patio! I hope you like the replacement which is a little bigger lol!12

Fairly busy couple of weeks ahead in social terms. Three larger family/friends social gatherings plus catch up coffee/ dinner meets with others through to the 29th December.
Plan for next few days is to have a small scale garden tidy up and then ensure house is ready for Christmas in terms of cleaning. All on schedule at the moment.Fortunately spending has dropped dramatically with all Christmas preparations complete. One final shop next Wednesday, the cost of which will come out of the joint bills account as planned.
I will give a final update Friday 22nd December then take a break from posting until the New Year.6 -
Your new tree looks lovely. I love having Xmas decorations around the house, most of my neighbours have lights outside, it looks very pretty and makes me feel happy!

Good morning!
Well Christmas is nearly upon us. All ready and prepared here. Next 4 days busy with sharing the festivities with friends and family.
Financially all on budget. New plan kicks in on January 1st. As usual will have £1200 in main current account on December 31st.
This will be my final post of 2023.
I am also pondering whether or not to return to posting in the New Year. I am not sure if this thread has perhaps reached the end of its useful life. I am also finding myself a little at odds with the some parts of the MSE outlook towards life and money in general. Perhaps it is time for to become an occasional 'lurker', rather than a contributing poster.
I will consider these things over the next week or so.
Meanwhile I wish all of you a Very Happy, Healthy, Peaceful and Safe Christmas!
Best wishes for 2024.14 -
Thank you, Baron_Dale!I for one, mainly as a lurker, really enjoy this thread, and would miss reading your inspirational posts.I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!2

It would be a shame for you to stop posting. Your posts are always interesting and you seem to have a very balanced approach to money management. I'm sure lots of people are helped by your posts. Hope you have a lovely Christmas and very Best Wishes for the New Year.3

Before you guys, shut up shop. I have trawled through all 29 pages of this thread, and found it very interesting. One question that I'd like to ask. When quoting incomes, are they net of tax or gross?2
