Its madness, mine has shot up, I paid £157 last year and it rocketed up to £178, but no details have changed!
Mine last year was £147 after cashback, included legal and basic breakdown with zero NCB (did upgrade BDC)
This year £180 but if getting cashback £145, same legal and basic breakdown with one year NCB (did upgrade BDC)

I tend to buy car insurance to start 3 days later, i find this gives me the lower premium than even a few weeks before. This year my insurer even called me and asked "why did you start your cover in 3 days time" and I replied "because you give me a better price and I don't need to drive the car until then as we have other cars in the home".

But premiums in our postcode are very high anyway so we (all members of the family) in total pay around £8,000 a year for the parents and children and for 3 or 4 cars in the house.

Remember that the law requires all vehicles to have motor insurance at all times unless SORNed. I am surprised the saving is such to outweigh the faff of having to SORN the car for 3 days and pay for that months car tax a second time

Been trying to get 1st insurance for my son who has just passed his test. Quotes range from 4K to 25K The companies are telling me it should be around 1800 but can’t explain why it’s not. Have even changed address to get quotes and that isn’t any better. Car is only 1.2 Clio 2010. I need Martin on this one!! 🤣

Not sure what Martin would do but ok...

Get him an old mans car, something he wouldnt want to be seen dead in. Doesn't matter if it's more powerful, more expensive etc. Cars are marked by the type of person who owns/drive them not just the driver being insured hence it was cheaper to insure a brand new Mercedes SL than a Mini Cooper S even with a learner driver added.

Nowhere near Beirut, Lebanon but in East Lancashire, England. My 2 kids pay about £3,500 each (over 21 under 25, premium cars BMW and MB) and I pay around £800 (over 50, non premium car). I've never had a quote for under £500 for any car, inc MB or BMW. I've 27 years NCD but of course can only declare 9.

It's the postcode we're always told but it's also the ethnicity which they never say (and has been proven to be a factor in premiums).

Really good advice.  Our 18 year old wants my wife’s Volvo - going from a group 9 to a group 30 with almost double the power means a jump from £1,490 to £2,003 - checked this morning.

Funnily enough being a diesel he will save more than the price difference in fuel costs alone.

Yep, Same here. Last year I was £216. No details have changed, renewals come through at £411.

Had a quick look at the usual comparison websites and lowest price on them is £360 so far.
