Opening NatWest fixed rate ISA account without photo

Then often help you with an online application using one of their tablets in branch, so you could try that if you have one near enough and open long enough.
Having said that, I'm having a terrible time trying to open a Fixed rate ISA (or switch my easy access one to fixed) online. I'm an existing customer with a current account + isa with them, so should be easy! Their solutions are so far wait for what I think is ages on a phone or visit a branch that's open for a fraction of a day, both of which would be very difficult and probably need time off.0 -
I'm about to give up.
I received some help via NatWest on Twitter messaging, but the information they gave me is different to what the NatWest ISA application people told me on the phone. They say I would need to have a current account to apply without a photo ID. However a HMRC letter of national insurance or an HMRC notice of tax coding could be copied instead of a photo. I thought I must have these but can't seem to find either of these in my personal tax account.
I've no idea where to continue my present application even if I did have the required documents. Perhaps it's a good thing because some people on here are having problems with NatWest with these documents!0 -
Applied Friday, took until late afternoon today to get the photo verification link.
That bit seemed to have gone through successfully, so I assume tomorrow or "soon" there will be an email with actual account details?
If they don't need proof of address details, which they may or may not need?0 -

I have applied for this account - just got a confirmation email and application reference so assuming I will have to go through this photo ID verification process given I am not an existing customer.
Seems an awful lot of hassle for a savings account!
Do you simply get an email link where you upload your photo ID from your phone - is it straightforward to do or does it have issues with validating the documentation?0 -

For the former at least you then have to take a photo using your phone of ID, and then hold the phone still with your face in the circle. (I was assuming i'd get to click and see the photo of my face, but no, it's smarter than that!).
After that I couldn't tell you, as a day on I'm awaiting what happens next!0 -
I had the email asking for a selfie - I don't have a camera phone. Asked in branch if I could take in ID, they said yes that would do, as long as I took in the reference number too. However...
... I brought up what many on the ISA forum are claiming is incorrect advice I was given last week by branch staff, where I was told by a 'greeter' no interest was paid before the "start date". Three separate people - the advisor, her boss, and a "financial advisor", spent about 45 minutes trying to get to the bottom of it. The end result is that they state that the "Fixed Rate" account is "opened" on the "start date" and starts earning interest THEN. Not before. They were unable to state what account is "opened" on the date of acceptance or deposit, or if any interest would be paid.
One of the staff actually said (was it a slip of the tongue?) that it seemed to be "deliberately unclear"
Either way, I'm not going to debate it on here as people are now in two camps; but for me it's too opaque for me to deposit anything in that account.1
