Doesn't a solicitor store/log a will

Did you ask about storage?  My folks left the originals with their solicitor and I have copies. The downside of solicitor storage being the process to obtain the original. In my case the solicitor wanted me to present myself to their office, with three forms of ID. Easy if local, not so easy when hundreds of miles away. I couldn’t get there and back in one day on the train. As your young adults might be living outside the area, you might want to consider what ‘storage options’ would make for easiest access, and minimal disruption given everything else they are likely to be dealing with at the time. 

My OH’s folks opted to store their wills at home, in a fire safe. How to access said safe remains a question.

I had my will done by a will writing company and this was their procedure. After the wills were signed and witness I had to take a photo of the last page so that they could check it was correctly witnessed. However, I purchased the service as a remote one and knew I was never going to see the legal executive who prepared it face to face.

The will writers only offered a paid for will storage offering and I've been meaning to get it sent off to the probate office but need to actually fill in the paper work and find my cheque book.
