The current EOn loyalty has fees - but not if you switch internally with EOn according to the posts in other threads (search EOn Fix or Loyalty V4) including to the SVT e.g.

At least some of the others seem far more restrictive with waiving exit fees - so bear that in mind when comparing

It was questionable this time last year whether to take a fixed tariff, as they were vastly higher than the prevailing svt at the time. However it would have been a good call had the government not intervened with the EBSS and EPG. As it happened, the government intervention meant that fixing in April to September 2022 cost me and many others a little bit of money in a few low usage summer months at a higher rate, and maybe a £150 exit fee in some cases.

This year the decision to fix looks like a no brainer, as most suppliers fix offers are very close to the current SVT and most suppliers except EDF have said they will waive exit fees if you later decide to move to SVT because the fix is no longer competitive.

It's a very small price to pay for peace of mind over this winter. Wholesale prices nearly always go up over winter compared to the summer months, so the probability of the January 2024 SVT being lower than now is very low. In your case its a win-win scenario as eon will let you transfer to their SVT fee free.

Even though my supplier (EDF) will not waive their £75 exit fees, I've still chosen to fix to July 2024 for the peace of mind. Which as anyone with a long history of anxiety issues like me knows, is a very small price to pay for one less thing to worry about

As someone who also suffers massively from anxiety I agree, rather know where I stand for a year.

Thanks for all the help and advice everyone 😊

    Anyone else had this?

As over £500 in credit I asked for £200 refund. Eon Next said need a photo of my metre reading, even though I have a smart metre. My argument is they never ask for photo when I owe them money and up my DD.

    Completely normal.

They want to make sure that you actually have the credit and that your account is up to date.

For all they know, you could have used £450 of energy since your last bill and then you don't actually have £200 to refund.

Can E.oN Next pull data from your smart meters or is there a problem that you are not aware of?  What do your bills indicate re meter readings?

That said, it is possible that the CS team member is just reading from a script that covers all meter types and requests for refunds.

    Thanks both.

I went back to them asking why just couldn’t use smart metre readings as I get billed monthly. At first they said couldn’t use these but when I again queried it and asked how can use them for upping my DD and if not sorted will ups just cancel DD till credit cleared they said can now use smart metre and will issue a part credit for amount requested.

We all tend to think that CS staff have an encyclopaedic grasp of all the possible questions that customers could raise. Sadly, I suspect that some CS members were asleep during their training sessions.

Just logged onto my account and few new options available. Including a pledge one. I suppose swings and round abouts. Will be lower Oct - Jan but then will go back up (if forecasts right)

I spotted this today too. I'm tempted between this and the fix. I've had my eye off the ball on energy prices so need to read up on predictions before I decide to fix or go with this one.
