Thank you for your helpful comments. CF would use their own route for the connection to the property but concerned they won’t do it to where I want it. My existing router is in my lounge and I have my house alarm, doorbell and smart tv connected to the router. I could have the ONT fitted elsewhere in the property but would prefer not to have a cable running through different rooms from the ONT to the router in the lounge. My next door neighbour had his ONT by his front door and now admits the cabling to his lounge is something he preferred not to do. I will look into power line adapters.

Most companies will route the cable around the outside of the house and enter the building where you want them to unless there's a good reason why they wont or can't.

Ideally you want the ONT located adjacent to a 13a power socket, likewise the router and for most people it would also be convenient for the router to be co-located with the ONT.

However, as suggested above, there is flexibility in where you want stuff to be located and even then its not ever so hard to run ethernet cabling between the ONT and the router or you could use powerline adapters if you don't want cables tacked to the skirting board. Its also not everso hard to run your own ethernet cables around the outside of the house from the ONT to the router if its more convenient.

My router was co-located with the ONT when it was first installed but I decided to run an ethernet cable from the ONT up the outside wall, through the loft and down behind the kitchen cabinets through into the hall where the router now sits.
