Why Different Sized Text for Posts vs Replies?

As asked, why are replies shown in much larger text than the original post. For example ..

Hi Stephen, thanks for looking at that for me. I found just after posting that "Desktop site" was checked in options, which was fine until the update. I unchecked it and it's now displaying correctly both in Chrome/Android 11 and Firefox/MS10.

(Though we do still seem to have the double-spacing problem in Firefox.)
