    New build costs more.

    To get a new build with garden within your budget will be a stretch especially in London.

    Haven’t read the whole thread so someone may already have suggested that but Crawley could be a decent option. I am not sure about freehold houses but two bed flats are available near Crawley and three bridges station. I don’t live there but I have a few friends from there in office who make that commute almost daily and according to them, Crawley has some really nice areas. You are almost half way to Brighton as well.
