PHONE INSURANCE - Is their an alterantive to your provider

I am thinking of getting the Sony Ericsson k750i on O2's online tariff (300 mins xnet, anytime & 50 texts), which is £30 per month.

My friend has recently dropped his exact same phone is his pint recently, hence why I am thinking about insurance.

With O2, their gold insurance plan costs £4.99 per month or £59.99 annually.

I was wondering whether there is a 3rd party insurance company, which can offer a cheaper, but comprehensive alternative?

In the past I used www.policyadmin.co.uk which is a phones4u company, paid £7.99 a month and is was for loss and theft, check O2's isn't just for theft. Lately though I opened a Lloyds account and for £7 a month it covers me for phone insurance, credit cards and breakdown cover, not bad and even better as they only seem to be charging me £5?!

this is the link for O2's gold insurance t&c's it covers you for loss, damage and theft but it dosent say anything about water damge etc..

Yeah I have the Platinum version at £15 pm but includes other things as well as covering 2 mobiles in the family, AA Relay Service, Home Start and Roadside Assistance, annual family travel insurance

Include contents outside the home on your contents insurance and that should cover you.

Yes - although excesses on home insurance are often higher, and claim might also effect future premiums

Thanks, but i don’t want to have to attach it to my home insurance, as i don’t want to increase my premiums etc if i make a claim and as payless said the excesses are higher (with 02 i think it is £20 - 25).

Does anybody know of a 3rd party insurer who just cover mobile phones that is cheaper than the operators insurance?
