They really are taking the proverbial.  To have to click on the ... for each forum individually to mark as read is ridiculous.
It's worse than that, you can't even mark as read the forum you're actually viewing.

    I know.  Isn't progress a wonderful thing.

Yes, sorry, I meant from the main listing, not from within a forum section.

Oh, and now when I click "Mark Read" on the categories screen, it doesn't return to "my" categories, it returns to the board section that the category is in, so then I have to click "categories" all over again and try to remember which one I marked read. I'm sure it didn't do this yesterday.

Previously, from what I can tell, if you went to view all the latest posts, you could mark the entire forums as read up to that point.  Now I cannot find any way to do that.

Even worse, you cannot mark your followed content as read from the followed content screen - you can only do it from the "all boards" view - of am I missing something?

On the previous version of the site you could mark 'All Read' from your profile.

Yes, it also did this yesterday. I could probably live with marking each category but as you say, it stays in the same group so you have to click back. If you mark two categories, you have to click twice to get back to the category list.

Yes. It was not an intuitive place, but from your profile symbol top right the dropdown offered mark category viewed, or mark everything viewed. No navigation to get there, nor any navigation to get back.

Now it's such a fuss the feature is virtually unusable.

Think I've got it now ...
To mark this (site feedback) section as read, you have to go off this section to another section to find the heading for this section that you can then mark as read.
    Pretty simple eh! 🙄

    Pretty simple eh! 🙄
    1. Click "Home" .. wait for page to load
    2. Click "All Boards" .. wait again for page to load
    3. Scroll down past 50 category headings until you find "Site feedback" which is the 51st heading
    4. Click the three dots and select "Mark read"
    5. Page clears and goes to a different section "Discuss and feedback"
    6. Scroll down to find "Site feedback" again
    7. Click on the heading to get back into the category

So, seven actions to 'mark read' the page that you are already on.
Goodness me - who thought that one up?
