DCBL charge / one parking solution

hello, unfortunately I came across this forum late and already lost an appeal against One Parking Solution Ltd and have now received a charge from DCBL for £170.
Back in Feb 2023 I received a fine from OPS for returning within no return period. I had visited Burger King on a Sunday evening but their card machine was not working so I went home to get cash completely naively not realising this rule existed in private car parks and returned 15mins later.  After I spoke with Burger King and was told many other customers had also revived tickets but it was ok, I just had to appeal and quote BK’s email and they would verify this tech issue and it should be sorted.
OPS rejected the appeal and said they would never contact BK. I have read OPS are quite notorious for not over turning appeals.
I am extremely worried what will happen if I do not pay as I don’t want to risk receiving a CCJ nor go to court and am now tempted to just pay. I wonder if anyone can pls offer an advice what the likelihood of these happening if I ignore the letter. Thanks

    Hello and welcome.

What exactly does "have now received a charge" mean?

Have you perhaps received a County Court Claim Form?
If so, please tell us the Issue Date on it.

We don't risk anyone getting a CCJ.  Not a single poster risks a CCJ by following our advice.

Nor will there be a court hearing if DCB Legal file the court claim.

Whatever you do, NO PAYING.  You already know from the 4th post of the NEWBIES thread to ignore £170 threatograms so there is no next step.  Ignore.

Tell them if you move house, obviously.

And we sincerely hope that you are au fait with the need to respond to the final Government Public Consultation this Summer?

    Anticipated July/August.

We all need to ram the nail in the coffin of the false £70 'DRA fee' add-on, that actually funds the court claim and toxic CCJ culture, as well as the DRA and roboclaim 'legals' gaslighting of people.

Please come back here when it opens.

If you are not a regular reader, to be alerted you'll need to bookmark the thread by MSE_JC at the top of the forum and enable (on your profile) email alerts for bookmarked threads.

Then join us when the Consultation opens. ...PLEASE!

We need all MSE-reading victims if this horrific harassment and bullying to be heard.

See you back here in August.

Thank you for your replies. To clarify I have received a notice of debt recovery from DCBL dated June 28th.

I am not familiar I’m afraid with the final Government Public Consultation this Summer.  I am new to this unfortunately.

That is a harmless debt collector's letter.

The fourth post of the NEWBIES thread
explains exactly how to deal with debt collector's letters, but to summarise that post - ignore them.

Which is why I posted how you get alerts.

That letter is nothing and our advice hasn't changed.

While the letter is nothing, I would put In a complaint as it is misleading, it clearly states at the bottom that if you don't/can't pay then they will take away goods even though  they have no such power to do so without it going to court first and then only of you refuse to pay.
It states " can't pay We'll take it away” this is incorrect, and should not be there
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"
  • Thank you. I will do this and await further correspondence from them.

Might be worth contacting your local trading standards about the wording at the bottom of their letter, even if it's just to giver you the satisfaction of knowing they will be irritated by anything that dents their own reality.
