UK Cheque how to cash in Aus

Hi, my husband and myself have received cheques from the Inland Revenue ( refunds).
No bank will cash them as they no longer deal with foreign cheques.
I’ve tried to contact IR on the phone but after a wait of 1 hour I still did not speak to anyone, email is not allowed, they will not electronically transfer the money, we do not have a uk bank account.
Any advice gladly taken.
Thank you

Do you have a UK bank account? Many apps allow scanning of cheques for deposit. Or can you post them to someone back in the UK? Or post them to your UK bank?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Unfortunately if you don't have a UK bank account your options are limited. This is a UK forum so unlikely many people will know the best place to cash a UK cheque in Aus so maybe an expat forum over there might be able to help?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1

Another way would be a refined internet search, such as restricting results to the Australian domain .au. Quick and dirty, this throws up Mystate bank and HSBC seem to accept them.
