Tried getting reading - Meter updated so no R02 rate, and no way to enter reading online. Octopus

I wish I'd seen this thread when it was in its infancy.
The peak/offpeak register confusion with the Secure Liberty 110 arose when suppliers tried to apply the SMETS1+ update to get them enrolled and adopted by DCC. It wasn't until sometime into the migration of these meters that it transpired that DCC expects the first register tier (here, R01) to be the peak reading. For multi-rate meters like this one, R02 would then be the offpeak one. Various solutions were proposed, none of them perfect. In particular, DCC refused to cooperate.
I went through this nightmare, and ended up with having the registers swapped so after that peak usage was recorded on R01 and offpeak on R02. Fine, but it of course made a mess of historical data both in the meter and recorded by the supplier. Luckily, I had my own records, so I could still tell how I was doing consumption-wise. Even billing was adjusted appropriately.
The only really negative effect was to the EAC (the Estimated Annual Consumption figures stored by Elexon), which still haven't come right a year and a half later. The problem with that is that (a) my supplier bases its Direct Debit calculations on these figures, producing their own Future Annual Consumption (FAC) by combining the Elexon figure and actual consumption pro rata. The EAC is supposed to be updated regularly by readings sent by the supplier, but this mechanism went awry and it was never properly updated, so I ended up with an FAC totally divorced from reality, and (b) the EAC is the figure used by comparison sites to compare tariffs in the absence of better data. That's its principal use, mandated by Ofgem years ago when they tried to eliminate all the smart tricks being used to tempt unwary customers to switch supplier.
This problem hasn't gone away completely: there are still smart meters being installed with the first register tier recording offpeak usage. Anyone in this situation should be able to get the supplier to swap the registers, of course sooner rather than later. We just have to hope they notice.I'm not being lazy ...
