R01 was day/peak and R02 was night, after doing a burn test.Unfortunately there is no standard that says R01 is Night and R02 is Day.The overcharging is just another example of how the smart meter rollout has been bodged, causing confusion even within the same company.5

Not sure what is going on... Just checked my meter again, and now showing rate as FLEXIBLE and R01 & R02 are back... but Current Rate (Day) now showing as R02... suspected they backed out their over the air update, and its reset my meter.
Not sure online will accept the new register values (fortunately far apart)2 -
So what is the best meter to have and does the customer have a choice in the matter?SAC2334 said:
The worst ever electric meter to use in the history of UK domestic meters IMO . along with the the tiny little keyboard which is terrible to use , it is why I refuse , so far , to let Octopus put this thing in my property . I ll see how long I can hang out .0 -
Lucky you are with Octopus, any other company probably wouldn't have even understood the problem let alone solved it promptly.

Old Sagamo Weston analogue meters by a country mile. reading visable from 10 ft, no silly buttons or hard to read digital display , very rarely ever go wrong for donkeys years .Eco 7 s especially reliable as impossible to get the day/nights wrong and before digital cheaper meters came in , no one got the day/night rates mixed up like they do nowwakeupalarm said:

The dial meters are just as reliable but they caused probs with learning the tricky dial pointers when pointers on borders.
Customer does nt have a choice. You get what you get unless you are the rare property who installs their own1 -
You don't need to hang out any longer, they stopped fitting new Secure Liberty meters years ago.SAC2334 said:The worst ever electric meter to use in the history of UK domestic meters IMO . along with the the tiny little keyboard which is terrible to use , it is why I refuse , so far , to let Octopus put this thing in my property . I know that Octopus fit L & G and Kaifa smart meters. I think that any Secure meters are legacy SMETS1.SAC2334 said:It was always five presses (or so )of button 9 to get to RO 2 then Eon came in with button 6 just to confuse , but both buttons worked ok so you could take your choice
.So, OP have a try on button 9 and scroll through .
I always had a big moan about this small business meter from India showing Kvah reading as well as night rate on button 9 if you scrolled through the menu which many customers would use in error for their night rate .
A really bonkers reading to show on a domestic electric meter when this reading is totally useless and should not be on the menu of a standard domestic meter .

Update... Bulb rolled out an update in July... this set meter back to supporting Economy7 with R01 and R02... problem is they have swapped them (day/night wise).
Have done 2 sets of burn tests and sent in photos... but apparently my account was 'fixed' in the wrong way... it allowed standard (lowry beck?) Meter read to be entered... moving my day rate from 65000 range to 93000 range ... so they billed me for 28,000 kW usage in July.
Put my bill to 8500 in debt, and apparently debt collectors were about to be involved. Seem no checks and balances against half-hourly smart meter reads.
Fortunately spoke to someone who understands issue and will sort it out. They reversed the readings so account moved by £10k back into credit while sorted.
No idea how they will unpick the day/night units going to different registers since middle of July.

That is 99% of the battle. With the majority of other suppliers you would have hit a brick wall at that point

SMETS meters have 4 import registers. There is no industry convention on which registers suppliers are required to use for billing. I am currently on a 3 rate time-of-use tariff which uses one register and bills using 30 minute usage data. In 2019 when I was last on a dual rate tariff, off peak usage was recorded on the R1 register and peak on the R2. My guess is that the whole sector will in time move to 30 minute usage billing.BossHogg said:Update...
