Hi Peppa, am I right to assume that if my contract is up and just rolling month to month, do i still need to give a 30 day notice?

You’ll need to check your contract but all of the ones I’ve seen you’d need to give notice. (Assuming you don’t want to port your number aren’t taking out a new contract elsewhere. If you are keeping you number or taking out a new contract then you wouldn’t give notice and the advice about PAC/STAC applies)

So if you give a pac/stac to a new provider does that release you from a contractual obligation to your previous provider? And is your old provider obliged to refund upfront charges pro rata for the remainder of the month?
Effectively once you are beyond your minimum term does it make any difference when in your billing cycle you port?

The OFCOM rules say that (assuming you’ve passed your minimum term) then your provider can only charge you up to the time the port takes place.

In practice because bills are issued before the direct debit is taken (as banks take days to process them). Depending on when your billing date is you might get a bill for the other part of the month with a credit in the final bill. And of course any unbilled usage will be in the final bill.
