Ulster Bank application.

I've applied for an Ulster Bank account and at the time provided my documents online via Hooyu. I've today received a letter from the bank, part of which I've copied below.
"What you need to do now.
Please post your signed application in the envelope provided or bring it to any Ulster Bank branch along with any supporting documentation. If you've already successfully provided your documents to us online, you don't need to sign and return this application form."
I now don't know what to do. As I've already provided my id documents, it says I don't need to sign and return the form. In that case why have they sent it to me in the first place?

Hi BarGin ... yes it is confused and confusing ... I don't know of any Forumite who posted that found it smooth and quick.
At least you don't have the dilemma which some have had regarding the id. If you have a confirmation page to sign together with your application details I would post those off. They do get it right in the vast majority of cases, eventually, and are not fussy and pedantic like some banks in their process.1 -
I applied for this account, but was not given the option of providing documents via Hooyu. I contacted them after I got the letter by phone and was told I had to go into an Ulster bank. As I live in England, I was asked why I had opened the account and said it was because there was a switch offer. I was given an incorrect email address to send the documents too. I then had an online conversation and was told I could not send documents online and had to send to a branch and they could not be photocopies.
I then asked them to cancel my application as I was not going to send my passport through the post, and said I would try again online. I still did not get a link to verify my details via Hooyu, so I expect I will get another letter. I am not impressedNot Rachmaninov

Others also were not asked for ID during the online application but received a different form of the letter which did require ID to be provided, originals at that. They could go to their local UB branch if preferred. One or two arranged an appointment at a NatWest branch to photocopy ID and forward it. I believe these were also successful.

I've just provided a specimen signature and posted it back to them. I'll see what they do now.0

I was surprised they didn't ask for ID from me but the account is open and the switch has happened. Just waiting to see if they are daft enough to give me the free money so I can claim a treble. If not, I won't be too sad.1

And as if by magic they have just stumped up the £200, just three days after the switch completed and four days after I deposited the £1250. Chalk up a treble!
It took about 3.5 weeks in total so it needs a bit more patience than many online account openings.3
