is it worth waiting till next month to see if they up the rates on the e saver from 3.2 at all? with the amount i have in there putting it some were at 4% would be a decent amount extra over a  year. not looking for a fixed deal as  i already have cash tied up in a halifax 4%. maybe the sainsburys 4% with upto 3 withdraws a year could be an option

thanks

  • Not really. For many of us the 12 months anniversary is fast approaching so account has been emptied already, I guess.

I keep a small amount in the esaver just in case my phone dies/gets lost etc, that way I can use online banking to transfer money to my Santander current account. Otherwise it's all gone to Chip.

    Have a look here:

    https://moneyfactscompare.co.uk/savings-accounts/

As long as the bank is FSCS registered (most on Moneyfacts are) you are protected upto £85K per banking licence (some banks share licences, so check). The mainstream banks are typically the worst for savings rates.

I doubt it, it's been poor for quite a while now and they haven't thought to improve it. Even if they increased it by 0.50% it would be trailing Chase (on Monday 3rd) which is a pretty low bar in itself

No fees if you just open the easy access account with Chip.

I was similar to you a few months.

Was quite wary of using app only accounts and banks that didn't have branches and had most of my money in the Santander e-saver but having read this forum daily it's really opened my eyes and now i'm fairly confident and switched on with getting better rates wherever.
