What sort of bank account does she have, is it with a bank based abroad?Has she tried asking the DVLA if they can send a cheque payable to you instead?0

Am o able to cash this on her behalf ?
Some places, such as pawnbrokers, offer cheque cashing services, but your mother would probably have to go there herself and show ID. They charge a fee for the service so it's hardly worth it for £45.6 -

Will be very difficult to find anyone who would cash the cheque without the person it is written out to being present with their ID. A consent letter is unlikely to persuade anyone as it could be written by anyone.
Cheque fraud is something very difficult to spot to the untrained eye so most won't do cashing as they can't later claw that money back.
As mentioned above you will either need to get an account set up it can be paid into, the cheque re-issued to another name or have your mum present it in person to somewhere like a post office.3 -
When I last used cheques, they were valid for 6 months from the date they were written. In your mum's case, this cheque should be cashable till 12th December. If I am not correct, I am sure someone will advise. Will your mum get betterbefore then?Either to open a bank account or take it to somewhere that will cash the cheque.0
