Parking charge for passing through car park

I have received a parking ticket from Total Parking Solutions for my wife passing through the car park which has automatic numberplate recognition system installed. She did not park in the car park in question as there is a through road leading to another facility with the non-monitored car park (and the passage through the car park actually leads to another major road).
The photos on the PCN sent to me list my name, although my wife was driving. The photos show the car entering the car park and leaving it 23 minutes later - there is no evidence of parking in the monitored car park. I have included a diagram below.

I am puzzled: how is it possible to get a parking charge notice for NOT parking in the monitored car park? Any advice on how to fight this?

@Half-way, the car park is owned by Wales National Pool at Swansea. They wrote to me as a registered keeper because they obtained details from DVLA. Total Parking Solutions suggests that I need to complain to them

I also received a charge notice, not Notice to Keeper

Complain to who? the sports centre?
That is certainly a possibility, and something that should be done- however the method/angle you take with that depends upon acess rights.
In other words is there a right of access from the ANPR car park to the non ANPR car park?

Have you already complained to the parking company?
    you said this
Total Parking Solutions suggests that I need to complain to them

if so then what did you say?
that too will have an effect on how you proceed

Thank you @Half_way for your advice. I have not yet complained to the parking company, but I was about to use the template posted in the Newbies section of this forum, and add a couple of lines about the fact that I passed through the car park, not parked.
I do not know about the access rights, how do I know about them?
Literally, everyone is passing through the monitored car park to the non-monitored one, but the sports centre has recently installed automatic cameras and started sending charge notices. There will be many, many people like me who just get a charge notice for passing through.
I want to write to the sports centre, how would you advise to phrase my compaint?

Are you totally sure that the route you took to the other car park on the other property is an authorised route?
Your plan shows possible access from the other road stated "access road", is it not possible you were caught for making a short cut that uses an un authorised route?

Looking at GoogleStreetView, did you enter the Pool site from the A4126, Sketty Lane?
Then did you drive past the front of the Pool building, with coach parking on your left?

You then perhaps saw this on the roadway...

[an image from GSV - click on the image to go to GSV]
Note - the writing on the roadway says "STRICTLY NO PARKING. DELIVERIES/COACH TURNING ONLY".

Having driven past that point, it looks quite straightforward to leave the Pool site via a gated exit and you presumably parked by Swansea Harriers Athletics Club.
When leaving the Harriers car park, I guess you joined Cwm Farm Lane and then on to Mumbles Road.

There really should be another camera at the point of leaving the Pool property.

    And looking at this image...

[from GoogleMaps - click on the image]
...from the worn yellow hatching, it is quite clear that a lot of traffic use this shortcut.
A goldmine for the parking company.
Alternatively, currently a brilliant idea for using that route for both entry and exit to the pool car park.  ;)

    @KeithP, you are correct.
    1. I entered the Pool site from the A4126, Sketty Lane (this is where the automatic cameras are located)
2 .I drove past the front of the Pool building, with coach parking on my left
    3. I did not see the worn out sign on the roadway that says "STRICTLY NO PARKING. DELIVERIES/COACH TURNING ONLY". However, does this sign apply to the parking within the National Pool car park? I have not parked there
    4. Passing the pool, I passed through the gated exit (it was open) and then indeed parked by Swansea Harriers Athletics Club, to collect my child. It took longer to pick up then usual as the activity was running late

Question: Do I have a case for appeal? The instructions for Newbies on this Forum state that I should always appeal to the property owner (National Pool?) and also to the parking company?
How will I word my appeal? Shall it be different, depending on whom I write to?
    Thank you
