Have you had Christmas delivery problems?

Options
Hi there

A journalist from the Telegraph is writing an article about people buying goods for Christmas online and them not arriving in time.

He'd really like to interview somebody that this has happened to - it would be great if you could have a quick chat for him (it also might also help your case, if it's published in the Telegraph!).

If this sounds like something you'd be up for, please PM me your telephone number and I will pass it on to the journalist.

Thanks and Happy Christmas!

Most of mine have been fine... but the one thing I ordered first (back in November) has not been despatched :-(

Only a CD, but I can't find it in the shops...

Your Journalist probably wants more interesting stories than that, doesn't he?

I do the majority of my Christmas shopping online and in the main have had no issues whasoever BUT..................

I would never ever ever use Parcel line again.

I had a large order that I made from Boots, triple points and money off so I thought I was doing rather well. No problem on the side of Boots, they dispatched my parcel in plenty of time for delivery on the 7th December, parcel line tried to deliver on the 6th at which point I left them an authorisation to leave the parcel in the garage as they requested.

5 days later, 2 and a half hours on the phone (and it was an 0870 number) they returned my parcel to Boots. Now before you all tell me that is what they are supposed to do the scenario went like this:

Day One - called parcel line, was requested to leave an authorisation stuck to the door, I did no one bothered to try to deliver. Apparently the consignment number on the HQ system and on the delivery were showing different names and addresses so after a conversation with the very nice man in the delivery dept at boots and parcel line, the address was amended on their system.

Day two - still no delivery, authorisation is still stuck to the door. Called Parcel line another 20 minute wait before I could speak to someone, explained the situation, corrected the address, was promised delivery the following day, they had asked for the parcel to be delivered that day but it was still at the depot.

Day three - STILL no delivery, authorisation is still stuck to the door. Called Parcel line, 25 minute wait to speak to someone, explained my situation and asked to speak to a manager. "All the managers are a bit busy, let us take your number and we will get back to you" no problem, gave them my number. It was suggested that I drive to the depot and I collect the parcel myself, when I pointed out that they had accepted a contract to deliver my parcel to my door and I was not intending to make a 3 hour round trip because of their inability to fulfill that contract they promised that someone would call me back. My query has been sent onto the escalations dept apparently though so I should see some action.

Day four - oh what a suprise there is still no delivery and my note is still stuck to the door. No manager has called me back, so I call them. I have lost the will to live waiting for them to answer the phone, but when I do get through to someone I have to check once again that they have the right address. Yes they can see that my query has been escalated and put me through to the Nottingham depot where my parcel is being held. Speak to a very helpful chap there who explains to me I can only book a redelivery through head office but they will hold the parcel and if I speak to a manager they can authorise a before 12 upgrade for delivery tomorrow. So back to parcel line, I explain all this once again to the person on the phone who promises to sort it out as all the managers "are busy".

Day five - still no parcel and by this point I am totally unsuprised! Once again I call the head office and ask to be put through to the escalation team. After the operator trying for 15 minutes to get through to one person (apparantly one person CAN make a team) she promises to email them and my parcel WILL be delivered tomorrow. I hold out little hope by now......

Day six - by now I am very cross, still no parcel has arrived. I ring Head Office waiting to be put through and once I amend the address AGAIN, I can even tell them which paragraph to look in the notes by now, I am informed that the parcel was returned to Boots at 4.56pm the previous day. I have to say I hit the roof and demanded that it was delivered, I wanted to make a complaint and was told that only the sender could complain!

Needless to say I rang Boots and related my tale of woe, they agreed that they would send it out via a different carrier and would be raising this matter with Parcel Line - I am not unusual it appears.

The crowning glory of all of this was that I had ordered something else from Boots and it was delivered within 36 hours via Amtrack, so I was able to see very clearly where the issues lay! Thankfully I have had a replacement order and a voucher for my wasted time from Boots, but even so there was still stuff that was out of stock by the time I came to get my replacement order, which is annoying.

In this case I cannot blame the retailer but always check now who their nominated carrier is - and then specify who is to deliver my parcel ;)

I ordered a bunch of stuff from I Want One Of Those on 10th December and received a confirmation email within a couple of hours telling me that all of the items were in stock and would be dispatched 'straight away' or 'the next business day' if my order had been received after their cut off point.

I've been trying to phone them almost every day since on their 0844 number sitting on hold for up to 30 minutes each time without getting through.

There is still no sign of my order but I did receive an email today telling me that two of the larger items I'd ordered were out of stock and will not be delivered at all and the rest of the items would be dispatched this evening.

The gifts were for family in Scotland, I'd intended to post them up, so even if they do arrive tomorrow they won't get there in time for Christmas.

I will be buying my racing grannies from a more reliable source next year.

I bought loads of cleaning stuff from Lakeland. My second order from them. Definately will Not being using them again. When I opened the box got hit by evil smelling toxic? fumes had to instantly go and rinse out my mouth and open all doors. When I phoned to complain that the drain clear had mixed with another type of cleaning stuff all she wanted to know were which items I wanted replaced. All I wanted to know was would she let the packing people know so they could make sure it doesn't happen again to someone else.

Not a late delivery but more of a careless one. Ordered some chocs from Thorntons yesterday and specificly requested saturday delivery (because I would actually be here tomorrow) and came home from work to find a nice wet/damp box sitting on my front doorstep, could have been there all day as far as I know.

What was wrong with knocking on a neighbours door I dont know (they would have been in)

I have had a few parcels left on the doorstep this year that previously delivery firms would have knocked on a neighbour's door (they are in most of the time). Quite shocked to find large boxes left on doorstep. Anyone dishonest could come along and just walk off with them.

Yeah, and other dishonest people might phone up and say they never recieved the items carelessly left on a doorstep.
