Manufacturer has nothing to do with the registration of the sold cars, that is entirely down to the dealer and the vast majority work with customers to get private plates transferred.0

Manufacturer decision.
Dealer decision.
All rather moot, as I was not able to get it done.1 -
Are they selling you a pre registered car?
Un registered new cars usually have several weeks waiting time.0 -
I did specifically ask to check "brand new, first registered keeper"
It is a stock vehicle, though.0 -

Q: Can I use my existing license plate?
A: No, you may not use your current or existing license plate number for new registrations. So you'd need to pick it up registered to the 23 plate and transfer it over, but you should in theory be able to do that online from the car park before you drive it home.

I guess you will need the V5 which probably won't arrive in the post for at least 24 hours

When we purchased my wife's Fiesta, the various "protection" products that were offered came to half as much as the car price.
I was thinking that the number plate was not worth bothering with but, if I can swap it out in only a couple of days, that might be worth it...0 -
The other thing to remember is that the Tesla 3 only came to the UK market at the end of 2019, so if you get anything older than a '69' plate it'll look like a private plate anyway. Of course if you're just wanting to hide that it's new rather than pretend that it's older, then that doesn't matter.1

The number I would get is a standard format "16" plate and no need to change spacing or anything.
Those that know me would "get it" as being relevant to me as an individual - to everyone else, it would just be a standard "16" plate and they'd probably not notice that it is anything that was chosen.
I guess that the same would apply regarding the car model being newer than the plate age identifier - those that know will spot it but I assume the majority would not quickly make the link.0 -
@Grumpy_chap You do realise that anybody that cares about the age of your care only needs to type your new private reg into one of many different government or commercial websites to instantly see the true age of your car?0
