Good question?
I have a police officer living over the road from me. I regularly see him driving up & down the road (both in his own car & a patrol car) either on the phone or texting. I have not reported this in the interests of good neighbourly relations, but it does irritate me.
Perhaps there should be a website where you can log reg numbers of people you see talking on the phone while driving? Once your number appears on there a certain number of times it gets passed onto the police - would they be interested?0 -
I followed some BMW driving bimbo a couple of months back for several miles - because she sat in the overtaking lane alongside a bus doing which meant nobody could get past. She was continually making calls on her phone and several times she drifted across the road into oncoming traffic. I carry a camera in my glove box so my passenger took some pictures of her - clearly showed her using her phone, on the wrong side of the road and also showed her registration. We then handed the photos into the police - I have no idea if they did anything though. Only seen her once since then and she was still using her mobile, still all over the road, still forcing others to undertake her ... some people should not be allowed a licence.

I've heared police radios (Handset walky talkys) aren't classed as a mobile phone so they can drive and use them as they wish whilst driving without any probs unless of course their driving is effected.0

However if you have a mad fetsih about a bit of bottle blonde peaking up above a headrest with a phone glued to the ear you are more than welcome to drool over it ... guess that is just not my thing

This reminds me of a time back in the early 80's when I was pulled by the police in my Vauxhall Viva (said it was a long time ago!) I was accused of using my CB while driving (Yeah- I know - sad innit). I admitted I had been using it and asked if he was going to run a check on my registration number. He said he'd done that already, then paused, realising what was coming next. "Oh, you did it as you were following me then?" I asked. "Hmmmm" he replied, considering whether to admit it or not. "Well if you're intending to prosecute me for using my CB I hope you did the check by telepathy !" He didn't like that and called for another officer and spent the next half hour checking the car thoroughly for something to get me on. He ended up giving me a 'producer' and what he thought was a telling off but I was smiling as he did it which severely !!!!!! him off.
I think the police are like everyone else really - there's good and bad. You never really notice when they're good but when they break the rules they stand out. There is a lot of the public that think the police are allowed to break the rules, especially in an emergency and I do feel the police, and other emergency services play on this sometimes.Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0 -

There is good and bad and there is no point in being smart with them no matter how irratated you are for being stopped. Just be pleasant and pass the attitude test and hopefully you will be on your way without a fine or ticket.
In gereral most people dislike the police and all remember when they have had bad dealings with them. But they are the first people we call on in times of emergency. Like it or not they are a needed service.:j0 -
I completely agree. The majority of the police that I work with are hard working, conscientious people who enjoy a laugh. Yeah, you get those who take liberties, but name me one job where that does not happen (God, I know it happens in mine!)
The problem is that people are only too ready to complain about poor service, and not praise good service. Its like my job. I can do everything for my patients and not get a word of thanks, but upset them in some way, and then they complain and I get a disciplinary. :mad:It is not the bullet with your name on it, rather the one addressed "to whom it may concern" that should worry you!0
