I'm having to use my prepps...got attacked in my tower block a few weeks ago resulting in broken ankle...screws and plate put in...sister and a friend bringing me food when they can...disconcerting knowing one trip could put me on floor for hours..or worse...at the hospital tomorrow...approx 2 weeks after op..to check healing and maybe stitches out...not had to dip too much into prepps but nice knowing they are there10

Oh my goodness that’s dreadful. Wishing you a stress free recovery, you poor thing. As a disabled person with a disabled hubby, this is why we prep. My prepping is to buy us some time and breathing space in the event of accidents or emergency. Wishing you well xdaz378 said:I'm having to use my prepps...got attacked in my tower block a few weeks ago resulting in broken ankle...screws and plate put in...sister and a friend bringing me food when they can...disconcerting knowing one trip could put me on floor for hours..or worse...at the hospital tomorrow...approx 2 weeks after op..to check healing and maybe stitches out...not had to dip too much into prepps but nice knowing they are thereSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear this! I hope you can get some help with the trauma as well as the injury, and that there's good news when you go to the hospital.daz378 said:I'm having to use my prepps...got attacked in my tower block a few weeks ago resulting in broken ankle...screws and plate put in...sister and a friend bringing me food when they can...disconcerting knowing one trip could put me on floor for hours..or worse...at the hospital tomorrow...approx 2 weeks after op..to check healing and maybe stitches out...not had to dip too much into prepps but nice knowing they are there
It shows our emergency food cupboards are important. In the recent bad weather, and feeling full of a cold, I was glad of not having to force myself to go out. It also showed me what I'm most likely to use (tins of tomatoes, chickpeas, ratatouille, corned beef, mash, onions, fruit etc).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

You're likely already way ahead of me on this Daz, but a bumbag to carry things like phone, powerbank, TV remote, tin opener?
Gloves to protect hands from crutch handles? (Those fingerless gloves used by weightlifters with padded palms are wonderful & mine came from Poundland...)
Multivite to make sure Vit D & calcium? All the very best!8 -
Sorry to hear your news @daz378 such a dreadful thing to happen. As you say, glad you had prepped and had provisions in and family to help. Recovery may take a while so look after yourself and great ideas from DigForVictory. I hope all went well at the hospital and that you can get some physio when you're ready.7

@daz378 that's awful; what a good job you had your preps to fall back on. It just goes to show, life can change in a flash and you never know when you might need a a few tins & packets to fall back on. Kudos to your sister & friend! I hope your hospital visit was helpful.

On another note, I just stumbled across this YT video from 2 days ago - sobering, but shows we're not as daft as some would call us...

Oh Daz, I'm so sorry that all that happened to you. Hope it doesn't take too long to heal and you can get out and about again. It just shows how quickly circumstances can change, but this is why we prep. I'm sure your sister will help in whatever way she can. Take care. 🤗2025 Fashion on the ration
