Thought it was about time for a new Prepping thread...
Please keep it on topic, friendly and realistic for life in the UK (i.e. no hurricane basements, no guns, no politics).
For those that don't know, the Guides & Scouts among us will be prepared, but are the rest of us ready?
IMPORTANT NOTE: this thread is a resource for those who want to prepare in an old style way for a variety of scenarios - anything from c0-0p running out of milk to a full scale breakdown in society as we know it - if you don't think you can cope with this sort of discussion please don't read any further! it is not meant to alarm or ridicule, just allow open discussion in a frank but sometimes lighthearted way - that said, all constructive view points are welcome so please join in!

Most of us live in towns though so hunting shooting and fishing are not top of the list of ways to prepare. Great if you live in the country but even there it’s more about prepping for bad weather distance to shops and infrastructure failures
I stocked up well in advance of the COVID panic buying and was glad I had done so. But there were things I hadn’t foreseen. Like the suspension of bin collections. We had to search around for recycling points that weren’t stuffed to the gunnels. Although our council still collected food waste reasonably regularly, I was concerned about running out of food caddy liners. I usually buy them from the library which was closed and the supermarkets didn’t always have them in stock. So I ordered a couple of compost bins so that I could compost vegetable waste and that reduced the amount going in the food waste. Still using them since it helps in the gardenIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!19 -
