@ArbitraryRandom thank you for the suggestion. Yes thats the sort of thing i am hoping to make for husband his motto is I cant go wrong if it involves meat and cheese - so something like the parcels or muffins will do well. He commutes for work sometimes too so knowing he can have something on the go will be helpful too.
I am sat looking at freezer meals today.
My house and depression have been getting the better of me and I need to focus on sorting it out, and hopefully with nicer weather coming I will want to be out sorting the garden and growing my veg again.
So I am planning some freezer meals that can be chucked in the slower cooker or prepped, defrosted and cooked quickly but homemade rather than ready meals full of junk. Also husband works until 6 and with daughter coming home at 3.20 from school shes usually starving by about 5 so means I can have meals on hand to cook quickly for her as well or keep warm for him.
So multitasking with looking up recipes, making a shopping list and hoping to start cleaning as I need to find my daughters birth certificate which apparently isnt where its meant to be

In the meantime, I've been working my way through our various stashes; now the number of inhabitants of this house is dwindling down, some of my "preps" - which stood us in excellent stead in the lockdowns - are beginning to look a bit excessive; I suspect we'll be down to 3 FT inhabitants & I PT shortly, so I don't need 20 cartons of passata, 10 tubes of tomato puree, etc. etc. unless they're a huge bargain & have a really long BB date! I might not need to buy 8Kg sacks of flour any more, or 5Kg bags of sugar - though I'll still be fermenting & preserving stuff, and sugar, unlike flour, doesn't go downhill if you keep it too long, as long as it's dry - and I've just put a fruit box full of older HM jams & chutneys in the car to take to the Community Kitchen; there's still more than we'll eat on the shelves. I will always keep a sensible store-cupboard, including enough to feed unexpected guests and (genuine) friends who fall on hard times, but the size of "sensible" has changed now! Which reminds me - there's enough paracetamol to last until 2050 in the first aid box...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)14

Found some nice recipes for lower calorie bars and treat foods. Will be using the oven for a roast tomorrow so will be baking some too. There will be enough meat for at least DH supper as well as both dinners.
Looking to make a carrot and lentil soup too, freezes well so can make a batch.Have a container of small plums in fridge, absolutely no flavour whatsoever - won’t buy out of season again. Looking to maybe stew them and add to another better flavoured fruit so we, at least, get the vitamins.Have also got my seashells, paints and bits out. Going to see if I can make pretty things to sell, maybe bring in a few pennies. The shells are all foraged so cost nothing. And I’m a very ethical collector at the beach, no crittters come home, if they have the shell first they deserve it more than me. Got to go through the small stones in our yard for anything I can use too, that was bought years ago when we first moved in but not needed now as yard is slabbed.Hope everyone’s had a good weekend xSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

This is just a thought but do you think a wide necked flask would be a good investment for hour husbands packup so he can take hot soup or sausage & beans etc for lunch?
Its been such a long dreary winter, perhaps hot food will be more satisfying than cold & reduce the urge to splurge on junk?
Newly retired and looking forward to
a fulfilling, positive & happy future.7 -
yes, use ours for hot soup when going to parks . used for hot beef stew too when we visited Sherwood Forrest instead of buying in their cafe . lots of people use these food flasks for work, much cheaper than eating out and better than cold sandwiches every day .old enough for my bones to feel the cold .7
