Not competitive at all.  With most other companies dropping their charges from the 1st July I will be paying more.  I have signed up to octopus this morning ( using a friend's referral to get £50), swap date 19th, no brainer for me and I can leave without paying an exit fee for when hopefully the competition opens up again.
What were the rates offered by Octopus/what tariff comes in better?

    Octopus tariffs are viewable here:
Ignore the "get a quote" button, just enter your postcode and you'll see a list of current tariffs.

Thankyou I hit get a a quote yesterday and didn't bring up what I was expecting
  • I think I'll speak to Octopus as well. Their "current" rates don't seem to take into account the new SVT from 1st July. If I can switch to them on the SVT then that seems to be a no-brainer. £50/£50 for referrals too, which could be a bonus.
If I had smart meters I would probably sign up for their Agile tariff, but for me SVT seems to be the best bet.
The fix from GEUK I've been offered would be until 31st March 2024 and looks like it would be a lot more expensive that the expected SVTs over winter, so it's a no thanks from me.

I am also looking at Octopus. When I get a quote it currently shows unit rates of almost the same as the GEUK email, but lower standing charges. I don't want to jump the gun though if Octopus are not showing up-to-date info for their flexible tariff

It is up-to-date; it's the rate that applies today.
You won't see the July rates on that page until July.

Thank you. So a small saving could be made by switching, I just need to decide whether to go for it now or wait and see what happens with other suppliers with the knowledge that I can still leave GEUK at any point

    Sean :)
  • @seanfos You've got 99 posts, but a switch ain't one.

I switched over to EDF's standard variable rate as their rates were a good bit lower than GEUK's offerings and no exit fees as well. And as I pay for what I use I was able to get that preferred direct debit option set up with them.
