Some of the scam baiters, when speaking to foreign country scam centres, learn some choice phrases in their mother tongue - that seems to wind them up.

I’d never trust anything with AI in its name. It’s hyped up like metaverse and only a matter of time before it comes crashing down.

Agreed, every time something gets hyped up, the scammers jump on the bandwagon.

AI, trading bots, NFT's, Crypto, Metaverse, you name it.

Inevitably the AI hype-train will run out of steam, but there is always the next big thing to pick up the reins.

It was only a couple of years ago where a significant number of people believed buying a URL to a piece of pixel art for thousands of pounds was a surefire way to unlock generational wealth...

People unfortunately lose their rationality at the notion of becoming rich. All of the marketing for these scams intentionally exploit this.
    Know what you don't

I had a relative who was very fluent in an unusual foreign language, and handed the phone over - the scammer lasted about 5 minutes

Having seen a full-page ad. on Quora a few weeks ago showing PM Sir Keir Starmer plugging Quantum AI, I was doubly suspicious when I saw ads for Martim Lewis and today - David Beckham! - apparently doing  the same thing.

Wearing full PPE, I got as far as the 'Register Here' button and beat a hasty retreat - no buttons pressed; no links followed; no info entered.

How are such posts on other social media sites moderated - or not?

It's a widespread problem and MSE (and Martin) continue to keep up pressure on the topic.

I am now in this scam as I read a new article with Martin Lewis's name all over it and now I'm constantly being harassed with calls. I've had several calls being rude and angry with me when all I have been is polite and calm. How can we stop these calls? I'm not interested in changing my number.
When they next call ask them who they want to speak to, and when they say your name tell them that you've died and you're just there clearing the house. They'll then remove you from their call lists as even scammers don't want to waste their time trying to fleece dead people.

This also works with persistent charities too.  :)

Essentially they aren't at present. It's a wild west free for all out there. The social media companies could easily do something but they're making money from it so it's not in their interest. There are so many red flags with these scams that if their AI systems are even a fraction as good as they claim they'd be able to spot and delete in an instant.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Or as my mum did long ago when being pestered by window salesmen "You wanted to speak to her, well she is dead, but I'll just look in the coffin and see if she's interested..........."
