Glad to hear you're feeling better at last, Jazee , and that you've had a good weekend, YL.
Valliant work on the washing up, Fayolle, and on not eating sweets for a week, kazm.
I hope your knitting sorted itself out, Valli. [ETA: just read your post - is it a cunning plan? Well done on your list of achievements!]
Despite - or perhaps because of - waking up this morning as the birds began serenading each other at 3:40, I have had a very productive day:
- made a cuppa, went back to bed, caught up with the news online, got Word1e in 3, and then got bored with YouTube videos and decided I might as well start work
- with the help of a second cuppa, I broke the back of the big frog before breakfast (just some checking through still to be done, which will then necessitate several phonecalls/emails, but they're not particularly urgent), filed away all the loose papers off the spare bed and shredded the ones I had thrown on the floor
- after breakfast I showered and dressed, then did WMx1 and hung it out (very blowy here today, and pleasantly warm rather than hot). The dogwalker came to take Rosie out
- another cuppa accompanied me into the back garden, where I planted up all the patio pots with summer bedding, earmarked 4 pots to go to the tip (destined for the big skip or the help-yourself-for free recycling corner), cleared moss off the paving slabs and swept the yard. Fortunately all the digging and sweeping work was done below waist level, so although my back is aching, my shoulder has not objected strongly at any point in the day until this evening, when I held out a small dental stick to Rosie - ouch!!!
- made lunch and tea; filled the DW and emptied it when it was done
- caught up with 2 hours' sleep on the sofa after lunch. Meanwhile DH took himself off the pharmacy at M€rry H€ll (nearest one open today) to buy some teething gel to soothe a mouth ulcer, and then went for a walk on the common, where a light plane had landed short of the airport runway and the emergency services were out en masse
- made coffee sponges and fruit cakes this evening, and did all the resulting washing up by hand
- enjoyed the final of University Challenge followed by Britain's Lost Masterpieces.
This is the first time in over a year that I have achieved so much and not felt groggyNext Tuesday will be the 6-month anniversary of my op, and I am just so thankful for the skill of my surgeon, his team and all the nursing staff - wonderful people!
My aspirations for tomorrow:
- plant up the last 2 pots in the front garden
- empty all the bins
- dust all through and hoover through upstairs (DH has offered to do downstairs before he goes to SW)
- go to the gym
- do a small food shop
- play board games with the girls all evening while DH is off playing trains
Hope everyone has an unbroken night and a good day tomorrow xxx

Morning all. Hope you're all ok this morning.
I'm up early on my day off as we have workmen arriving this morning.
Yesterday Poppet did get a walk but I ignored the garden in favour of knitting so hats off to Valli who managed to actually get stuff done!
Today there is more admin to do and I need to cancel sky sports now DHs team have been relegated.
Will report back later.

Hope you're feeling better now Natty. Good luck to CCL's DS for the driving test.

Dog walk next. Think I'll leave the garden again.Spend less now, work less later.8 -

I have news everyone 🍾
We are buying a house in Wales 😀😀
The inheritance that we've been waiting for has finally been approved and will be in DH's account in the next couple of days. We are going up to Wales soon to buy a house, and see my sister.
This has been hanging around us now for the last 5 years, but we can finally do it now. The plan is to be in our new house by September of this year, and as we are cash buyers without relying on selling this house to fund the purchase it will be a quick sell. Then once we've moved we'll worry about selling this one 😁😁😁
I can't believe it's finally happening at last. It's been a long time coming I can tell you.Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Brilliant news, Natty x. It’s lovely to hear a long term plan come to fruition!
On the mundane side of things, I have been to work on my day off I really couldn’t cope with the stress of another 3 day week with so much work piling up. Glad I went, as I did break the back of 2 work frogs. Changed the bedding before I went and flung it in the wm. DH hung it out to dry in what has been a very blustery NE wind. Came home from work, remade the bed with clean bedding, assembled dinner from a load of plastic boxes housing weekend leftovers, washed my hair, watered the gh, filled all the watering cans which DH emptied yesterday and cba to refill, thwarted a pile of ironing, got tomorrow's pack up ready, and sorted DD’s hair appointment.DH, on the other hand, has been (allegedly) “busy”. I have left him to WUDUPA and make me a cup of tea 😈7 -
Thats great news Natty, sounds very exciting.
Not a bad day at the paid stuff, cycled in and back although my legs felt a bit heavy after walking 17 miles in two days at the weekend.
I have had a bit of a revelation. I tend to slump on the sofa every evening as soon as possible then end up wasting time on the internet. Tonight I decided to make a healthy salad for lunch tomorrow and prep a veggie Bolegnese to go in the slow cooker before I sat down. I also cleaned the kitchen properly and mopped the floor. Feel very pleased with myself.
Bedtime soon, another full day at the paid stuff tomorrow.8
